Does Justin Gaethje have a very low fight IQ?

Yes those fights he did not display good fight IQ
But against edson and cowboy he did. Could be the caliber of opponents....who knows
Cowboy and Edson are not the type of fighters that know how to deal with pressure fighters and they usually break

He’s actually incorporated head movement into his style recently as well instead of throwing up a high guard and sticking his forehead out to absorb punches

But you saw how he lost to Eddie and Dustin when he could’ve won if he mixed up a little
Both are boxing heavy vs Gaethje who is much more MT oriented. They exposed (once again) MT's susceptibility to inside fighting if they can't establish the clinch.

No. Also he's adapting while keeping the JBG happy. Let him bang.
He won’t have a chance against Khabib and Tony I promise you because these guys will take you to their world and submit you if they fail on the feet!

High guard is what costed him in the Alvarez fight

I mean he only wants to bang and he knows how to wrestle so why? Does he think he is not going to get old one day and all this brain damage will catch up with him? Does he want to win only through brawls with other fighters? Should he just fight in MT or kick boxing since he never even attempted to take someone down! What do you think of his fighting IQ
Well, having a cleft lip is associated with relatively lower IQ, but I don't think the evidence is that strong.

Ok mark my words he will never be a champ as long as Tony and Khabib are around unless he starts wrestling more

The answer is written on his ribcage...

“Death before dishonour”

<<Does he want to win only through brawls with other fighters?>>

you say that like it’s a bad thing

He had a very effective game plan until he ran into high level guys. A game plan that involved him being a fucking monster, can you even comprehend how addicting that must've felt? How much of his identity was attached to it as well to keep him going like that? After the Doostin fight, he's completely changed his approach, though. And it's a more effective approach than just wrestling an opponent for 15-25 minutes. Cause what do you know - he might be a great wrestler, but have shitty submissions. And not enough cardio to just blanket.

Dude has 3 straight 1st round finishes now with little to no damage taken. He's doing great.

He's no longer eating 2 to land 1

Being able to beat guys who are fighting tactically while you yourself are going balls to the wall must feel very satisfying. At the highest level though, everybody has to employ some kind of tactics. Even Khabib has had to develop his striking to be able to implement his wrestling better, and he’s definitely the best MMA wrestler in the world hands down.

Yet TS would be talking crap about him if he just wrestled and avoid exchanges.

Tony's stand up fucking sucks lol he gets knocked down in every fight.

Gaethje has great footwork and very good strike selection. His IQ and instincts are great.

@true_fan he used to be willing to eat two to land one. In the last year he has trained to *not* eat two to land one. To be more efficient. More accurate.

People wondered if he could.

Then he did exactly what he said he would.
