Yup horrible stoppage. Imagine if the ref stopped the fight when he got dropped by Till, Cruickshank or Chiesa........
The JM hype right now is fucking ridiculous.
A year ago, his name was in no one's mouth and two wins over fake top 10's and he's a world beater.
Good god. Can't wait for Nate to beat the shit out of him to shut these threads up.
Askren and Till were both top 5.
Also pipe down i was making threads on Jorge here for years now.
https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/lettuce-be-real-tea-masvidal-should-be-9-0-in-ufc.3205351/
I called him one of the most technical/well rounded and slickest fighters from 155-170 back in 2016 and already touched on his controversial losses back then
He does have alot of ignorant normie bandwagoners now but there are def legit supporters specially on sherdog
Masvidal is way more proven than Gus. Gus hasnt beaten any top 5 fighters in their purime unless u consider a 38yo Glover in his purime
his best wins are Thiago Silva who was inactive and lost multiple fights at the time, a washed up Slowgun who barely got passed Vera, Jimi when he was barely top 10, Jan (who wasnt ranked at the time). Other times he fought top 5 guys (Bonesx2, DC, Crumble, Smith) he lost
Till, Askren and Cowboy were all top 5 guys when Jorge finished them. And he has that showing in a fight that couldve went either way against a champion VS Benson (which is all ppl remember Gus for, losing to Bones and DC)
he has 13 losses but 5 of them split decisions. the Palomino, Daley, Khabilov, Iaquinta, Benson, Larkin and Maia fights were hardly lopsided. A couple of those were legit robberies (Iaquinta, Palomino), others couldve went either way (Daley, Khabilov, Benson). Fights like Demian and Larkin he prolly clearly lost 2 rounds w/ 10pt must system but if u look at the fight as a whole they were both even fights. I dont know anything about the Assuncao fight as ive never seen it posted online and its one of the white whale fights but Jorge feels he got robbed in it from an interview before
The only times he was really outclassed and/or finished were his 2 sub losses, Wonderboy, Giblert when he had a buroken hand and Damm which was an alltime bad stoppage from a ref
early stoppage
Askren was "top 5" on the strength of beating one guy by controversial ref stoppage and an undefeated record against people who had never fought anyone remotely close to elite level.
Till was top 5 based on a "win" over Wonderboy in one of the most boring fights of all time. One that the vast majority of people thought Wonderboy won.
Masvidal is undoubtedly skillful and talented but his career is absolutely littered with shit performances during which he spends long stretches of time offering nothing but timidity and defense. Two admittedly fun wins in a row does nothing to give me reason to believe that he will outclass or "destroy" Nate Diaz.
I'm glad you've been here for more then a few months, but that means you know how he tends to shell up and lose fights in which he's inactive.

One of the best cases when people wanna base everything off record numbers, instead of watching fights.
If people don't realize Masvidal is a very high-level fighter they don't know what they're watching. I was surprised he got beat by Wonderboy like that. I remember the Khabilov fight but that was 6 years ago. He got robbed in the Iaquinta fight. I think Masvidal beats Nate and I don't think it will be very close. He needs to make sure his cardio is there for 5 rounds because Nate will test that.he has 13 losses but 5 of them split decisions. the Palomino, Daley, Khabilov, Iaquinta, Benson, Larkin and Maia fights were hardly lopsided. Journeymen don't fight for titles or in title eliminators. No, he's a journeyman on a 2 fight streak
