Is there any info about this? I think this is even more relevant question after last night.

Gus showed in his last fight he still doesnt have a very good/offensive topgame. Still, it would have been interesting to see him laying a little longer on top of Jones and try to improve his position. At least we would now know something about Jones ground game from the bottom.

Ps.I think Cormier didnt show anything that special in his topgame, though. Henderson did ok to neutralize Cormiers topgame before he gassed.

Jones spends very little time on his back. Makes it hard to judge his guard.

I think he's been on his back only once or twice, and only very briefly. There was that point in the Evans fight in the last 10 seconds where he grabbed Rashad and pulled guard for no reason at all...

We assume, but until someone actually takes him down *cough*DC*cough*, we won't know how good he is off his back.

The closest we've seen is him throwing a flying triangle on Rampage and pulling guard against Rashad, but both were at the very end of the round and were a few seconds long at most.

If Jones fights DC then we may find out.

    Cormier beat Hendo. Calm down.

Haven't seen it yet but he has the perfect build for a very effective guard. Since he is training bjj and is an athletic freak we can assume if he ever needs it it's there.

I would have to assume jones doesn't have any holes in his game given his dedication and the ability to learn like a savant.

I'm sure he has some subs and real nasty dirty tricks off his back. The guy is a pure student if MMA but seems to have a gift for bring creative and studying a step ahead.

He beat josh barnett, bigfoot and frank mir. The last few fights are pretty much irrelevent, he should of been the number 1 contender as soon as he made weight against cummins

Yeah, I agree that there are reasons to believe his bottom game is at least better than average at LHW. But every fighter has holes in their game, no one is perfect.

I think his point was he beat "only" Hendo on the ground considering the topic of this thread.

He trains with some talented folks. My guess would be "yes, he possesses and good guard." Ya never know though.
