I'm wondering if he made a lot from all his title fights and this is why his motivation to make weight has diminished. There has to be a reason for this right?

Enough to keep him from starving.

    Obviously.

For real though, he should give up 170 and try his luck at 185.

    UFC 158 – May 16/13 – W (Condit) – $110,000 ($30,000 to show, $30,000 win bonus, $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus)*

    UFC 167 – Nov 16/13 – L (St-Pierre) – $100,000 ($50,000 to show, $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus)

    UFC 171 – Mar 15/14 – W (Lawler) – $150,000 ($50,000 to show, $50,000 win bonus, $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus)*

UFC on Fox: dos Santos vs Miocic – Dec 6/14 – L (Lawler) – $150,000

UFC Fight Night: Hendricks vs Thompson – Feb 6/16 – L (Thompson) – $115,000 ($100,000 to show, $15,000 Reebok sponsorship)

    UFC 200 – Jul 9/16 – L (Gastelum) – $91,000 ($33,000 to show, $33,000 win bonus, fined $20,000 for missing weight, $15,000 Reebok sponsorship)

IMO if he was still the champ he'd be making weight. He's probably just demotivated because he's on a skid from the mountaintop fighting opponents who seemingly benefit him nothing.

Where did it all go wrong for Johny?

A lot of people are saying that his restaurant went under, so I'm guessing he doesn't have all that much money. Perhaps a few hundred thousand?

    Three fiddy perhaps?

It must be humiliating to have to give 20% of his purse to Sage Northcutt.Being totally serious, I really feel for the guy, he's in no man's land like Barao

Also the PPV points against Lawler both times probably made him some more cash, and his sponsors pre-Reebok.

Crazy that he had a purse of 50k for a PPV headliner to fight St Pierre who was the biggest PPV star they had, this was only three years ago, think about the money fighters get when they fight today's current PPV star, really shows how much the sport has evolved.

The problem is not money, it's work ethics. It's his choice to balloon up between fights.
