Does hitting with knuckle the only allowed punch in boxing?

  1. Does hitting with the knuckles the only allowed type of punch in boxing? Is it legal to hit your opponent with other parts of the hand? Are there rules on the subject?

Yes. You may only hit with the front of the hand. You cannot backhand or club your opponent, though most boxers will occasionally do it if they can get away with it.

I've been sparring with a guy who use to be a pro kickboxer and I have noticed he will hit with the pinky side of the glove every once in awhile but it's a lazy jab when his oppent is changing direction.I guess it's kinda to distaction.

Look at Joe Calzaghe when he fights.
