Does Francis Ngannou belong to the top 5 HW GOAT?

Ngannou is one of my favourite fighters but there's no way, you could argue head to head he could beat anyone on accout of his stupid power, but even then how can you justify someone being a GOAT by fantasy matchups? Come on brother.

All this said, all of these GOAT lists are a meaningless pile of shit, so if you want to have big Frank in there don't let the sherbros stop you. Just say a GOAT criteria is mining salt or something.

Overeem was actually doing really good at that time. You might want to rewatch that.

Overreem is one of them guys that surprised me when USADA came in. He performed much better once they came which was a total WTF moment to me.

Go look at Overeem record when USADA came in. The guy did good. And you better believe me, I had my fair share of doubts of him before USADA came LOL.

It's like when he no longer had the horsemeat powered Uber body he just went "hold up I need to think about what I do in there".
Makes you wonder about what could've been.

I know.

Right now the 3 names that are poppin are Jones, Tom and Frank (in the HW division) theres NOTHING else after that. You have Almeida and Gane and THATS IT. HW is in the toilet I been keep saying this.

Bring back Frank and for the fun of it man match him with Pavlovich on his first return fight. Let's have fun!

Even though I don't think Francis beat Tom or Jones, I do think he's above everyone else in that division. But him and Pavlovich would be fun to see. Francis doesnt have the speed that Tom has. Which is one of the reason why I want to see that fight.

Again, we will never know. But you can't just be knocking people out left and right with a right hand like Hendricks did Kampann (who been in wars and wasn't easy to KO) and then go from what Hendricks has become.

We'll never know the truth though so I guess we should stop assuming but man Johnny to me was suspicious asf. As much as I praise Overreem for his revival when USADA came in, Holly shit the downfall of Hendricks was a sad thing to see....

But yeah. I guess the point of my post was that Ngannou doesn't deserve in the top 5 of HW GOAT. I don't even think he's top 10.
I agree.... I actually see Weidman similar to Johnny. Big question marks.

That being said. Imagine Ubereem vs Ngannou!

>Minimizing winning the 2006 OWGP as if a win over ancient Stipe (arguable) and can Feriera (lol) is more impressive
>acting as if Mirko didn't also fight multiple times that night
>the other "non HW" he fought was Wandy, who he ended up knocking out for the first time in Wandy's career in an all time great highlight
>Mirko was 221lbs in that fight while Wanderlei was 225

Overeem is a mindfuck for me.

Everyone suspected him to be on PEDs (I have no idea if he ever been caught) but then USADA came in the UFC and he had one of his best run.

Dude was having a good run under USADA lmao. But for sure there's no way that guy was natty. I mean holly molly guacamole
Overeem went from a 205-pounder to a guy who cut from 280 with barely any body fat. He clearly did a ridiculous amount of roiding in Japan for years with no testing. He also few to Europe before the Brock fight to avoid a test. I think he should've been DQ'd for that.

1- Fedor
2- Nog
3- Stipe
4- Werdum
5- Cain
6- JDS
7- Crocop
8- Overeem
9- Barnett
10- Ngannou
No way Nog is #2. He won the Pride belt then fought guys like Sanae Kikuta and Enson Inoue, who would be a MW today. Then he lost to Fedor and was never the best again.

The Pride nostalgia is way too strong here.

You'd have to let both roid max like Ubereem did. Ngannou by KO. He had the better chin and Overeem couldn't handle big guys with that kind of KO power for long.

Very likely... however 1 thing stood out to me in their actual match. Reem clinch Francis against the fence who just turned him around.

When Reem was Uber he did the exact same thing to Brock and was able to hold him there throwing knees.

IMO Ubreem has a good shot at landing Uber knees on Francis, even UberFrancis

Overeem got busted before USADA, he was busted by NSAC. He had been on an 11 fight win streak, won the K1, DREAM, and Strikeforce tiles, and once he got busted he went 1-3 in his next 4.
He did eventually adapt and was always dangerous, but nowhere near the Ubereem status of 2009-2012.

iirc he had an estrogen blocker one time and that is why he did not fight JDS in 2012.

HW is such a difficult division to rank.

In PRIDE we had Fedor and Nog as clear #1 and #2.
In UFC we have Stipe as the #1 fighter.

Then we have Werdum, Cain and JDS that can all beat each other on a good day in their primes. I think Ngannou can be included in this list as well.

Hard to define a goat. Like, JJ imo beats Tom, who is better than Ngannou imo. That just means JJ is better than any HW, as Nagnnou and Stipe were the next era above the before with Cain, Werdum... Gane was tapped in round 1 by JJ, Stipe was dominated, both who had a saga with Ngannou. Tom is the next level after Ngannou likely, as he beating Volkov that way , compared to the way JJ beats Gane, makes him and JJ pretty much a 100 in fights score imo.

But JJ slightly ahead imo, like

JJ 100
Tom 95
Nagnnou 88
Stipe 88

So JJ can beat any HW, but Miocic has accomplished within HW more than him. So it depends. I wouldn't call JJ and Tom the HW GOATs even tho it's like JJ >= Tom >> Nagnnou ~ Stipe > Cain

The accomplishments of Stipe and Cain in HW wouldn't be triumphed by JJ as JJ being the best HW. JJ is simply the best fighter ever, but HW top, likely those who accomplished more. If it's a who'd win, then Jon Jones, followed by Tom, then Francis. Francis likely #3 tied with Miocic as #3 ... Cain being #4

1. Fedor
2. CroCoo
3. Big Nog
4. Barnett
5. Werdum

Nope, I guess I wouldn't include frank
