It seems that generally Rhonda is not being well received by the public for her performance on TUF. She comes across as somewhat childish and very melodramatic. I think she is doing real damage to her image, and at times she looks foolish. She may come out of this much worse for the wear in terms of popularity.

Maybe this is ultimately a good thing for her career and the UFC. Maybe she could be a draw as a semi-villain in the Nick Diaz mold. However, it seems that Dana has banked the future of women's MMA on this one athlete. Now that so many people are unimpressed with her personality, was this a mistake?

Thoughts?

Alot of people already saw her as the female Nick Diaz in terms of attitude even before this season of TUF started, but yeah, the way she flipped Miesha off after the Duke, Pennington fight made it official

I guess you haven't been keeping up with Dana's scrums and interviews. He doesn't care what people think about her and he knew that what you are seeing on TUF is how she really is and that's the reason he brought WMMA into the UFC.

I dont think he overly concerns himself with the opinions of people.

Im not sure why this is such a revelation though. Rousey has been embarrassing to watch since she started getting face time back at the first Tate fight.

I know what he "says". He has a long history of projecting his own reality. But, if you were Dana is this who you want representing women's MMA? Dana is no fool, so maybe he loves it. But, I don't think Dana could have predicted her erratic behavior and that she might be perceived negatively.

Cyborg plz lose a few pounds,,

I am sorry, but no matter what, Ronda deserves everything she has gotten. You can't say the same for Tate. Tate shouldn't even be here. She was eating strawberries against Cat.

Meisha can be as nice as she wants to be, but it doesn't change the fact that she got this opportunity handed to her. That is why I am always on Ronda's side.

Ronda is an Olympic athlete, won a medal for her country. She is the UFC champion, the best female fighter in the world. She is childish and melodramatic for sure, but I respect skill and dedication far more than I disrespect a bad personality.

I respect, Aldo, Tyson, Ali, Steve Jobs, Kobe Bryant, Fedor, Mayweather. Some have great personality, some don't. But I always want to see those people win or at least I wish them success.

If Mayweather can say all the racist shit he said and all the other BS and still represent boxing, I am sure Ronda can represent female MMA.

And who else can represent female MMA? Certainly not Meisha Tate. You can't represent an entire gender weight class when you got lit up by Julie Kadzie.

She is trying to be a pathetic female version of the mighty Chael Sonnen!

One word bro. Sara McMann. The woman is an absolute beast and has to be the next step after Rousey runs through Tate.

He's banked the future of women's mma on this one athlete by signing 15 other women, putting them as co-main events (Tate/Zingano, Davis/Carmouche) of UFC events and placed others on main cards and televised prelims of UFC events, putting still more women on TUF - giving them a weekly platform to display their skills to a nationwide TV audience. Say what you want about the UFC - they have done a tremendous job in not making their women's division the Ronda Rousey Show - even while everyone continues to describe it as the Ronda Rousey show.

And has anyone ever in the history of combat sports either bought a ticket or a ppv or not bought a ticket or a PPV based on being "unimpressed with (a fighter's) personality"? Are there a thousand threads on sherdog about how Cain/JDS buyrates are going to be effected by Cain's dour stoic boringness and JDS's wide-eyed momma's boy act? There is a weird strain of misogyny inherent in this line of reasoning that women's mma is going to be adversely effected if Ronda Rousey is regarded as crazy or a b*tch. She's supposed to be.

She might want to start showing up for her scheduled UFC fights first.

I don't think he regrets it, but he won't do it again IMO

This fight should be interesting
It is obvious RR just wants to kill & beat up Tate, while Tate seems more strategic & wants to "win".

I say advantage to RR, unless her emotions causes a mistake. It is a pretty interesting scenario

He aint regretting a damn thing. It's all about ratings. Floyd Maywaether is one of the most hated men in sport, but his boring fights break ppv records. As long as people watch, then that's all that matters. Even if it's to see her get ktfo.

I hear what you are saying, but he is getting more involved & seems to be doing a lot of spin regarding her rep now

He might be saying in interviews how he doesnt care and stuff but IMO its obvious quite a bit of momentum has been taken out of her climb into "stardom" as predicted by Dana. I remember him saying how huge she is going to be and how fans will flock. But I think such a thing as TUF and word of mouth can make a big dent in that plan. And if she loses to Tate who came out a sweetheart and a hottie due to TUF ... That would just knock Ronda down and whats worse is that she doesnt take such things well. Might pull a "Diaz" move.
But all in all, still, as long as she keeps winning and is in controled public appearances with a little coaching in the PR department, Dana might get his wish.

Hey Captain Obvious, we know Miesha is there cuz there wasnt anyone else. We know what happened to Cat. We KNOW Miesha doesnt doesnt this opportunity. How should she act in response? Respectful or flipping off birds?

These fighters arent robots, they are people. Empathy sells and Rondas best selling attitude right now is maybe people buying UFCs just to see her get beaten. I wouldnt buy a UFC for her, win or lose, but each time shes on, ill be rooting against her because of HER, not because shes an explosive champion.

Frankly, her getting her ass beat would help her tremendously.
