Does Cummins and Latifi's Success Speak To The Lack Of Quality Depth At Least At LHW?

I mean, both of these guys weren't on the UFC radar prior to stepping up on extremely late notice against extremely difficult opponents. But since they got their foot in the door, they are actually winning fights and not looking completely over-matched like you'd expect. If these two can come in and win fights, it makes you wonder who else is out there that isn't getting the chance to show they belong.

They took their debut fights on short notice and fought top 10 guys. Give em a break. Both looked good in their most recent performances.

i see Latifi doing better then Cummins in the future.

I actually see Cummins doing well at LHW. No-one will be able to neutralise his wrestling in the same way DC did.

???

Rashad
Bader
Jones
Texiera
Rumble
Gus
DC
Davis

There are a host of fighters who can neutralize Cummins wrestling similar to DC. The LHW division is filled with wrestlers and fighters with exceptional TDD and who can actually strike/grapple and have power.

no

they are not top 10 but they are doing fine against lower competition

I think it speaks to how good Gegard and DC are.

I think Cummins and Latiff are actually very good wrestlers and there is a lack of depth at LHW outside of the top 7

Difficult opponents though ?

What rankings were Kyle Kingsbury, Navarez. Diabate and Dempsey ? They were not even in the top 30 at LHW and all are not ranked or out of the top 50.

They made them look ineffectual and both guys seem to actually pretty good.

My point, which was missed, was that Cummins and Latifi only got in the UFC because they were in the right place at the right time. You would have expected these two guys to lose to anybody UFC caliber, since the UFC did not sign these guys until they needed a body for Mousasi and Cormier to beat up. The fact they are actually winning fights now kind of shows there's guys on the street who aren't getting a chance that can win in the UFC. Cummins was working as a barista.

It's not like they are coming in and top-10 fighters. They beat the lowest tier LHW's and proved they are at least above that level. Nothing shocking. They both actually "extremely late notice"'not on the radar guys' as apart of their UFC success. So why are you making a big deal about it? Were they 'on the radar" guys that they beat? Where is this radar anyways? Some people here were talking about Soa like he was a potential top-10 HW. That right there speaks to sad depth.

I don't think any of them are close to the caliber of DC when it comes to wrestling.

But Cummings has a great wrestling background and trains at a known gym. Latifi was Gus's training partner. So he trains with the best and has a pretty good record. What were their records? 12-4 & 3-0 or something? I've seen plenty of fighters make UFC debuts on records like both. They aren't bums off the street.

Most are not but cummins is neither DC or most of those wrestlers. I would be hard pressed to see him do that to Davis, let alone Jones or Rumble or anyone I mentioned.

As I said there are plenty of wrestlers who can neutralize cummins similar to DC and we will see what he can do when he actually wrestles someone who can actually wrestle decently let alone as good as those fighters.

Cummins and Latifi are actually very good wrestlers and Latifi has a small but extnesive MMA background. But they have been fighting the back end of the division and against men not ranked at LHW and out of the top 30.

Houston Alexander was beating people up until and I am not sure he is as talented as Latif or Cummins.

ts that's actually a great fight for both guys. They should fight eachother next they are both coming off huge wins and looked very impressive.

They're winning against other fighters in the same tier and looking good while doing so. I'm excited to see them progress.
