Does Bellator's lack of drug testing take away from the "sport"?

No, who cares? This whole "PED's are bad in sports" is such BS anyway. We expect athletes to be in prime shape year round to entertain us in whatever sport they are in. They are allowed to take a bunch of supplements, that really do nothing, but the minute they take something that actually provides benefits they deserve to be crucified? It's ridiculous. PED's should be allowed just like recreational drugs should be legal.

I actually agree with your overall premise.

BUT, as long as they are illegal, it's brutally unfair to those who fight clean. Those who juice can train much longer and harder and recover from injuries faster. It's just a brutal disadvantage for a clean fighter.

PEDs have been rampant in pretty much all sports since at least the 70s. I don't think it's a big deal, especially if you're just using stuff to recover faster or heal injuries.

Yeah and Rampage is all of a sudden back to knocking every one out

*tinfoil hat*

He does look in MUCH better shape than he did against Bader or Glover, MUCH better.

However, the quality of his competition has been low. So it's quite possible he is looking exactly how he should look.

King Mo will be a better test, though if we are being real, King Mo has really done nothing in his MMA career to back the hype he has. His only really solid win was where he laid on Mousasi and got pummeled from the bottom.

Yes, absolutely it takes away from the sport. ALL organizations owe it to the fans, and more importantly, to help legitimize the sport. By not doing this, they disrespect both and leave a LOT of questions that need to be addressed by Bjorn.

But he's older and beat up to hell now. Big difference.

That said, he might have been juicing then, now, and in between. No matter the testing, there is someone beating it. It really sucks for the true clean fighters (which Mo may be), because it's a shitty playing field.

I think it would be very unlikely that someone like Mo was beating international testing on a regular basis considering the fact that he had so little money to his name (one of the chief reasons he moved away from wrestling) and that the US wrestling program isn't exactly a massive moneymaker. It wouldn't be impossible, but I'd consider it unlikely given the fact that it takes a good amount of resources to cheat top quality drug testing.

we're talking about an organization who routinely puts shows on indian rez casinos.... there is nothing to lose at that point.

Any testing is better than none.

But it's not worth it for most of the smaller promotions. The bigger the promotion and the bigger the fight, the more complete the testing should be. So I think those involved in a Bellator title fight should be subjected to at least a basic post-fight piss test. It should be extremely difficult for a PED user to fight for a UFC title without being caught.

no i don't give a fuck ,honestly some people think the lower tier guys who get caught are cheaters but TOP dogs who can go at it for 25 minutes are drug free...

That's really hilarious about some mma fans...

I would never doubt that ANY athlete is doped up.

Cycling and Olympic sports are what really convinced me to trust nobody. Even with insane testing requirements, people beat them regularly. It's just a reality.

What I like about testing is that it at least makes the athletes be very careful and it makes it harder to peak for their events. It's not nearly perfect, but at least it somewhat levels the playing field.

All that said, I have no reason to think Mo was or is a steroid/HGH user. I just wouldn't be surprised if ANY athletes pisses hot.

Them having 2 grams of juice per week roid monsters fighting can only help :^)

I'm generally on board with this sentiment. It does take a reasonable amount of resources to get around the best testing, though.

These guys don't look like they're juicing.

If anything, I'd say the physique of these guys all but screams that they're natural.
