The liberal media arm has been working overtime since pre-election but it's almost comical at this point. From the Russia hoax(es) to the Shampeachment they launched in cahoots with Pelosi and Schumer, does anyone even think they aren't in fact, Fake News?

We can update daily headlines as the fun continues

April 6th headlines:
CNN
"Why Trump's Firing of Intelligence Community IG is so egregious"
https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/06/politics/michael-atkinson-firing/index.html
"Sources say Trump's top Trade advisor feuded with officials over hydrochloroqline effectiveness"
https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/05/poli...ug-hydroxychloroquine-disagreement/index.html

Yahoo
On the front page links a Huff Post article titled Trump the worst president ever
https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/max-boot-donald-trump-worst-president-094023032.html

MSN

On the front page MSN makes a big deal out of well... nothing
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...out-hydroxychloroquine/ar-BB12dPbH?li=BBnb7Kz

And let's not forget about the blatant liars that the propaganda arm ran with:

Kung Flu lie (so juicy yet nobody can name a single person) Sound familiar? Whistleblower like
Joe Biden tweets a response to Trump's early China sanctions, "stop the xenophobic fear mongering"
And as no surprise many in the mainstream media say it was taken out of context. You know... the same media that ran with a 100% out of context and blatant lie that Trump called illegals Rapists and murderers.

There's a reason "fake news" has become part of the social zeitgeist.

In many cases, the "Fake News" label is well earned.

First thing you have to do is separate news reporting from editorials.

Nothing you linked was actually "news".

"News" is (or should be) simply relaying new information to the public. If you are disguising opinions as facts or "news", it's "fake news".

If you report the facts and then give your opinion on facts, it is NOT "fake news", it's news followed by an opinion.

Pretty much 99% of all media is biased. That doesn't mean they are fudging facts. It just means one side doesn't like their opinions.

I believe that actual fake news - news that makes up facts rather than just presenting facts that certain people are disappointed by - is created, is peddled my morons like the above, and is a serious threat to democracy. When you have millions of people willing to not only deny facts, but to suspend disbelief and make up their own reality in order to not have to change their positions or think generally, you're going to have a bad time.

No, CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC are not "fake news." They're just shitty corporate outlets.

Also, yeah, none of that is fake news. Opining the (exceptionally reasonable) opinion that Trump is the worst president ever or saying that something that a guy you like did was bad is not making up facts. Compare that to, say, Facebook faux "breaking news" articles saying Trump is on tape asking for underage escorts from Jeffrey Epstein, and you should see the clear difference.

There is no separation between reporting and editorializing in todays media

You're probably right. I don't pay much attention to it anymore, to be honest. Every channel has a slant and very few shows are actually "news" anymore, outside of some local news stations that focus on local news reporting.

But it's everyone who sells editorials as "news", not just one side or the other. Journalism is becoming a fucking joke because everyone cares more about their opinion than the truth.

No shit, the big 3 have all abandoned journalists for for opinion based personalities: Lemon, Cuomo, Stelter, Maddow, etc...

This whole fake news thing is just a distraction. Trump loves the media, they play with each other everyday.

It's ironic that the people who screech the most about "fake news" are the ones who most enthusiastically follow conspiracy peddlers on Youtube.

Fake news is certainly a thing, but it's hilarious when people whose views are all dictated to them by one kind of news media decry other news media

I’ve developed a pretty solid method for determining fake news. If I don’t like the story or who wrote it then it’s fake.

Works every time.

The impeachment was nothing short of an attempted coup. People should be going to prison. The left in this country are so deranged and filled with hatred they should be labeled cult members.

I have a left leaning buddy who listens to Maddow a lot. Apparently many consider her news. It's pretty hilarious that she used the Alex Jones defense in her lawsuit.

"Rachel Maddow and MSNBC parent company Comcast are pushing for the end to a defamation lawsuit brought by Herring Networks, the owner of One America News Network (OAN). In court papers filed Monday, the liberal TV host argued that her assessment of OAN as "paid Russian propaganda" qualifies as opinion and thus isn't actionable."

The Iraq War, and the steps leading to it, and how all of our media outlets were in on the ruse was a big fucking wake up call.

There is absolutely "Fake News." back in the day, we called it propaganda.

No, they have to do that.

If something is being reported as factual, especially pertaining to an individual, they can be sued.

It should be assumed at all times that the media is speaking subjectively unless it is otherwise explicitly noted.

People being fooled into not recognizing objective fact and being able to separate it from conjecture need to read a book.

I'm not saying it isn't morally or ethically wrong, it almost certainly is. But it isn't hard to spot.

Journalism and the News used to be inherently objective. What we have today is emotionally charged opinion pieces that make no attempt to make that clear to the viewer, listener, or reader.

There are many reasons from Click Bait and the need for ad revenue to stay afloat to more malicious reasons.

You shouldn't have to be asked to spot it as a viewer/reader. It's not a game. They need to quit selling their opinions as news. They also need to quit being political hacks, because it leads to spreading garbage, getting lazy with sources, and generally just fucks up journalistic integrity, because they are not reporting from a place of neutrality. Once upon time, it was unethical for news agencies to even hint at a political bias. Now, it's all you have. Damn near every piece of news is coming from outlets with a clear political agenda, be it left or right.

You saying Maddow is “opinion-based? Her investigative aces run circles around all others. You want opinion, try Fox.
