I thought it was awesome back in the day when they had names for the cards rather than just the fighter vs fighter.
Bad Intentions, Pride of a Champion, Bitter Rivals, etc...
Anyone else prefer this over the new format?

Yes, but they'd need more than 2 good fights to justify it.

I don't hate it, but it doesn't have lasting power. After hundreds of events you run out of ideas..

You end up with sh!t like - UFC 280 "fighters gonna fight.."

Plus every card has used to have very cool web sites

Looks like UFC 101: Declaration - was the last one. There have been 360 events since then i am pretty sure people are well over it by now TS!

Have you been in a coma?

Jack HAMMERson vs Jared CANNONier... Geez UFC do something with the poster... Joking, that would be stupid

Yeah that got lazy and just started using the "A vs B' format long ago. I guess it was too hard for the marketing dept to come up with good names. Pride's event names were the best though: "Total Elimination", "Critical Countdown", "Final Conflict", etc..

Not really. It gives the thing a kind of DTV bargain bin stink, naming cards after Seagal movies.

No I don't, and I'm surprised they used the names in the first place. I thought the reason they didn't wanna do PRIDE-style production was because they wanted the UFC to look like a sport rather than pro wrestling. Well those silly event names didn't help with that cause.

Now that you mention it, I do miss the card names.

I miss the Pride FC recurring events. Critical Countdown, Total Elimination, and Final Conflict. They sound badass, and the names actually make sense given the tournament structure. Shockwave was great, too.
It's something I am amazed never crossed over from pro wrestling to the UFC. If you were a WWF fan, you didn't even need to know who was on the card, you knew you had to see WrestleMania or the Royal Rumble because it was always a stacked card. Since UFC is all about building their brand rather than promoting the fighters, I can't believe they haven't tried something similar yet.

I mean... If its that important to you, just make up your own names.

When i was looking on wiki and saw 101 i scrolled up a bit and didn't see anymore and just assumed it was last, but they had to go and randomly toss that one in there just to make me look dumb.

Ufc has drifted away from buding intriguing narratives that weren't housewife tier that they would have to use idiotic names.

Random euro fighters no one cares about.

One fight and extended prelims.

Some guy called the other guy generic insult on social media.

We need less cards, les third rate matchmaking and no social media drama for this sport to progress.
