After weighing in I've always wondered if the fighters go out and eat as much junk food as they want, or if they still try to fuel up on healthier foods ?

(This is mainly in response to people saying DC loves Popeyes, so I'm wondering if that's what he will eat after weigh-ins, or if they wait until after the fight before they go all out.)

I also kind of wonder what they drink because it's hard to imagine just drinking water would give your body all the electrolytes it needs after depleting yourself so severely.

A combination of something to balance their electrolytes but something that wouldn't fuck up their digestive tracks and something that would go to the bloodstream easily.

Veggie-fruit blended juice is an option, for example. They'd have to wait longer intervals to eat something fat-dense like almonds and although they also may, I don't think they'd eat processed crap before the fight, so the Popeyes treat ought to be after.

Different for every guy. Some guys work back in slowly, cap fulls of water. Others can pound fluids right off the bat like it's nothing.

It's mostly about hydrating after weigh-ins. Lots of Pedialyte, water or coconut water. Some even hook up to IVs and go through a few bags.

For food, it's mostly just a heavy carb meal like pasta followed by something light on fight day. After the fight, junk food away.

Lots of carbs. Dioralyte is also used for rehydrating.

The TS asked about post weigh-in, not post leg snapped.

Usually its pedialyte and peanut butter, maybe some celery and apples too. You don't want to gorge on food after you weigh in because you run the risk of overeating and feeling bloated/lethargic come fight time. Smaller and lean meals with plenty of carbs & protein are the way to go after a full day of dehydration.

I think it's interesting that they give cans of pepsi with Burger King in Brazil instead of fountain drinks. In America I think Burger Kings actually serve Coca Cola products instead too.
