And I don't mean missing weight. Of course that happens. I mean a title being taken out of the picture over .4 pounds or less.

I would bet any amount of money that this happens all the time in boxing, and they just read it as "185". I can't even think of one good reason why that didn't happen here.

If you think fighters will take advantage, just don't announce it. Nobody but the commissioner and Yoel will know what the scale said, and Yoel sure as hell isn't going to volunteer that info after the fact. And in the event that word gets out, nobody could prove it. And how are fighters going to take advantage, by coming in at .4 over? Who gives a shit.

1) Does anyone have 1 example of this happening to a boxing main event?

2) Does anyone have 1 good reason why the commissioner didn't just say "185"?

EDIT: http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...wford-make-weight-welterweight-title-showdown

"Horn, who weighed in at the 147-pound limit, less than an hour earlier missed weight by a half-pound and was allowed another hour to lose the weight, which he did upon a second weigh-in."

Fucking exactly

Yeah it's odd. I doubt it would happen in boxing. Scales can be off by 0.2 pounds, it's a rounding error.

Yes.
If you don't make weight then the fight is off.

Stop blaming rules and start blaming those who don't follow them.

Missing weight in boxing doesn’t happen this often either, because boxers aren’t D level cans who can’t even do their job

Do you have any reason to believe that the Illinois or any other Athletic Commission would flout their own rules in boxing but not MMA other than “because I just think so”?

Jeff horn just missed weight. Currently has 2 hrs to drop .5 lbs

Boxing and the UFC (MMA) has the same commissions sanctioning the bouts slapnuts.

Andre Ward vs. Edwin Rodríguez. Edwin missed weight and couldn't fight for ward title.

simple 185.2 isn't 185 pounds.

Last time I checked, boxing also had rules

There are 18 weight classes in boxing as opposed to 8 in the UFC. Guys cut a lot less weight too. A lot of guys actually fight up in weight too. Guys often start at their natural weight and then move up where the money is. It's more about skill than size.

To be fair boxing the weight classes are like 3 pounds apart in certain ranges too.
