My uncle got me into the notion of selling wire and now I have a huge collection in the garage. I have found wire from multiple places like on the side of the road etc etc and many cords from appliances that I cut off.

Apparently you can sell wire to some place for money. I have a good amount now anyone done this?

Around here mostly crack heads do it. They strip the wire for the copper then sell it to metal yards.

I heard that they buy unstripped wire for less

Too lazy to strip / burn the wire off

How much money will I make I have 5 cat litter boxes full

No, just selling another 4-letter word that begins with the letter "w".

Yes.

It's all in the game, yo.

Usually 85 cents a lb for copper.

So you just gvive them the wires and they give you money

A ridiculously small amount of money, yes.

Even for a crackhead it's barely worth the time spent.

I've worked in lots of machine shops. Literally the only reason to haul scrap metal to a yard is because what else are you going to do with it?

The amount of money you get for a truck bed full of scrap might pay for the gas it took to get it there and lunch at a taco truck if the drive wasn't to far.

Unless its been stripped and seperated you'll get the gas or lunch, but not both. Factor in wear and tare on your vehicle it probably puts you in the hole unless the scrap yard is enroute with some other errand. Need alot of weight to make it worthwhile.

You're better off collecting bottles Clippy, the real estate the wire is taking up isn't worth it.
