Does anyone else think this additional weight class talk is nonsense?

They need less weight classes not more.
Wattering down everyting.

Ts thinks with more weight classes there will not be weight cutting.
Much lols. They will still cut weight to fight smaller fighters.
See Khabib.

It would be much more fighter friendly to eliminate weight cutting altogether like in one fc than to add a 165 and 175 weight class and become more like boxing.

As a matter of fact the fights would probably often be better with same day weigh ins. Fighters would just come in shape and not kill themselves for an extra 5 or 10 lbs depending on which weight class you are talking about.

Lhw would be 225. Mw would be 205 and etc etc.

Is there any question Anderson's Silva performed even better at a natty 205? Or that every 155 fighter would perform better with 15 extra lbs?

Hell I'm not sure what gaethje weighs but I believe his might be a case that he either has to actually bulk up or he would be natty holloway weight.

RDA would still be a lightweight. Masvidal would still be a lightweight. Tony might have punching power. Khabib might have a healthier safe career. This nonsense talk about GSP vs khabib would go away. And no more double champs holding up weight division and cherry picking match ups.

Aldo wouldn't look like living death. Frankie would've fought the better part of his career against dillashaw, Cruz etc.

Alot of things would be different and ultimately better imo. Adding weight classes is encouraging a bunch more bull shit to happen.

Edit: stipe in optimal shape would probably be a lhw considering he last weighed in at 230. So we would get Jones vs stipe which everyone wants.

And hw wouldn't be on hold, it would be DC vs Ngannou right now.

Lol at believing no one cuts weight in onefc. Right and no one does steroids in one even with no drug testing, and they have hundreds of millions of fans and the best fighters in the world and asians do not have small penises either.

LOL @ more waitclassez. it is ok now and if anything I'd remove some. And boxing is incredibly divided in terms of that. LOL why would you bother to split manlets or men differing by a couple pounds! that shit is weakened at its core because of such cuck principles

165 would be make sense if you completely restructure weight classes

Merge 145 n 155 to make 150

Move 170 to 180

move 185 to 195

move 205 to 210

No more weight classes.

As for weight cutting, that's on the fighters. They're the cowards afraid to fight at natural weight.

This is how to do weightclasses:

145 and under: feather
145.1 to 156.5: light
156.6 to 170: Welter
170.1 to 183.4: Middle
183.5 to 198: Light Heavy
198.1 to 214: Cruiser
214.1 and over: Heavy

The increments are all ~8% increases from the previous weight. You eliminate weightcutting via the various hydration tests that are developed. You don't change the names of any divisions because you don't need to, tbh it's stupid to call men who are ~5'10 and 180 pounds "lightweights" when in objective reality they are actually middle sized men.

What model?

The model that sees all weigh in's conducted in secret, even the fighters dont see their opponent weigh in

The model where no weigh-in results are published...

The model that sees featherweights fighting strawweights at 135?

just because they don't enforce it doesn't mean there aren't ways to eliminate weight cutting. When we talk about eliminating weight cutting we're talking about actual enforcement.

You aren't making a real argument.

I wouldn't mind if they added 165, 195 and 225 opens things up for more match making opportunities. imo

You aren't making a real argument.

The argument is that people should not be citing ONE FC as examples of anything because theres no possible way of knowing

1) If ONE are actually doing as they claim

2) If what ONE are doing (or arent doing) is effective and works

The argument is perfectly valid

hydration testing is very easy to game, its not effective.

And besides, how do you propose doing hydration testing on 700 athletes based in countries all over the world? Its not possible.

could be too much divisions
the 145-170 is way more stacked
the 195 will be nice for costa and yoel

There seems to be lots of guys stuck between 155-170 and 185-205 imo I can see a lot of fighters benefiting from having those two added.

U do know when ppl talk about 165 they mean moving 170 to 175.

Are ppl this silly for real?

Yes. They are. Half the people who argue against 165 can’t even connect those 2 dots.

--If they add 165–They move 170 to 175

The other half doesn’t grasp the idea that it would be the most stacked weight division, with men from 155 and 170 competing in both their current weight class and 165.

Conor, Jorge, Khabib, GSP, Colby, RDA, Kevin Lee, Nate, Poirier.

There’s the top 10. Division really sucks amirite?

Blood based hydration tests can't be gamed (at least not that I know of).
