I know there are a few Doctor fans and with Peter Capaldi about to start his run as the 12th Doctor in August in the latest series run I'm curious as to who fans liked the most out of the last 3 prior to Capaldi

Christopher Eccleston The 9th Doctor

David Tennant The 10th Doctor

Math Smith The 11th Doctor

I think I'm in the minority but I always thought Eccelston was the epitome of "the doctor". I really wish he had done another series or two I think a lot more people would appreciate how good his episodes were.

Although my favourite episode(s) to date have been the 2 parter Tentant did "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit".

I thought Matt Smith was pretty weak tbh although the last christmas special was pretty damn good, I can't wait for Capaldi's series to start I think he's going to crush it.

I loved Eccelston's run , did wish it lasted longer than a season , personally I didn't like that Tennant's Doctor was more prone to falling in love it felt out of character , and I think what saves Smith's run is his good chemistry with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvil though the River Song Storyline could have elevated his run , its execution sucked donkey dick.

Each Doctor has been better than the last, for me. Unfortunately, Matt had to work with awful writing which often overshadowed how entertaining he was.

Tennant.

Eccleston was good but the accent annoyed me, and the only thing that Smith managed to do was put me off of bow ties. I used to frequently wear them, but not after him...

I finally started watching 3 weeks ago, now halfway through Series 4.

Tennant is my fav because he was my 1st Doctor. I watched a couple of episodes of his in the past and loved his character.

I was disappointed in Eccelston because he only lasted a season. He was "fantastic" every minute on screen. He could be hilarious one scene, then transition to serious the other.

I haven't seen Smith, but I don't like what I've seen from promos and clips. He gives off that grows on you too late impression.

Very true. The writers left with Tennant and it showed. The show changed from a whimsical, fun, crazy, adventure type show to some sort of sci-fi "who dunnit" bullshit show. The only thing which kept me going through Smiths first season was Amy Pond. I love me some redheads!

The 10th doctor is the answer. Tennant was great, he was no longer the scarred/hate filled post-war Doctor. His passion for humanity and all beings grows and grows. There is nothing to not love about the 10th doctor besides the way they wrote him leaving "I don't want to go" , THE DOCTOR WOULD NEVER SAY THAT! Especially the 10th doctor it's not in his character, he's only changing look and personality in regeneration, whewww still not ginger.

I want to get into this show but there is so much. where do i start? Also how the hell is continuity not a problem with the story? Like how can a story progress when in no only changes its tims line constantly but also the protagonists?

To start, I'd start with this :

It's when the show came back from a long hiatus. This season is fun, but the next few are quite a bit better. As for the continuity, it's a crazy sci-fi show, don't read too much into it. The Doctor is a time lord so he can see time and how things are effected through his various decisions, so I guess that's how it gets away with having no real continuity.

Right on. time travel is easily one of my favorite genres but its so hard to do. Ill check it out.

Tennant for sure. Favorite scene is Smith doing his speech in the Rings of Akhaten though.

Tennant for me, the episodes with The Master were incredible.
