This came up in the news a few years ago in the UK.
Like the woman said in the clip, Washing meat is a west Indian thing. In hot countries with less refrigerators and more flies that like to land on shit, it makes sense.
It doesn't really make sense in cooler countries where you can buy refrigerated meat that hasn't had flies landing on it all day, but many black people still continue with the custom because their momma taught them how to cook.
I only wash my meat when I'm following an Auntie Fee kitchen sink recipe, but I'm not sure it makes things more hygienic.
