Do you turn up the volume while listening to a song and they say to "play it louder"?

So like if you are listening to a song and they are like "turn up the volume!" or something like that do you actually follow through and raise the volume or do you ignore it and keep it as is?

It kinda seems like you are supposed to; quietly listening to a song with a guy shouting for the music to be louder seems to be on par with being on the dance floor when the Cha Cha Slide comes on and blatantly ignoring the instructions and doing a different dance instead.

That being said, 95% of the time I ignore and keep the volume the same because I'm lazy lol

But I'm curious if others feel different on this
