Do you think Werdum bought into his own hype?

I noticed this in the last few fights he was able to get away with it against the Nelson and Brown of the world but ever since his recent rise he's really trying to play up this "trolldum" character even in his fights, doing unorthodox stuff, standingw ith strikers and trying to troll his opponents.

You can see him trying to pull the same thing here

Werdum got too confident in his striking, you don't get to confident in your striking against croation people.

I believe he did, sir. Too many troll faces. Too casual in chasing a KO artist around the cage.

Yes. He's probably a Sherdog lurker. Every other post on here was about how amazing Werdum's striking is.

Or blokes from Ohio for that matter! We found that out last night fo' sho'!

Maybe, even the post fight presser he took a moment to remind everyone he is the greatest HW of all time.

When it seemed like his motivation was to prove that in the pre fight videos.

He still DOES have very good overall skillset, despite last nights performance.

He just had a lapse in judgement & discipline, and it cost him, big time.

He did. Werdum used to be very composed and cautious with his striking. He went full retard Saturday night

Funny thing is: he got a warning shot seconds before he went stiff...he was hit with a right hand rushing in, yet he didn't reset and just went forward while beeing hurt. The crowd pushed him into disaster

Anderson Silva syndrom
He thought he was untouchable, he saw the reality oh wait no he didnt see it coming

An ADCC legend that can outstrike people is an almost perfect fighter. The problem is, he stopped being a ADCC guy lately and decided that he was now a K1 level kung fu master. This will humble him down a little bit and remind him of how great his grappling is.

Also, was I the only one who had massive deja vu from this finish mirroring Chuck Liddell vs Babalu?

I agree TS, but Fedor had that chance and screwed it up.

He was the same as always. He has been in the fight game long enough. He made a mistake by rushing in on Multiple times.

I don't know what that was last night, I don't know if he didn't take Stipe seriously or thought he was invincible that was the most confusing thing I've ever seen, at least Aldo had a reason to lunge at Conor and Cat just isn't very good but Werdum? No reason for that.

He literally looked a random drunk brawler, just ran at Stipe and this is after he won the title where his opponent just ran face first at him, he beat Cain so badly on the feet Cain was forced to shoot for a takedown then Werdum just runs into Stipes fist.

The bloke submitted Fedor and knocked out Mark Hunt. I'd probably be a bit overconfident after that too...
...and using it as a pick up line the rest of my life :)

Yes. He was feeling himself a little too much. It showed with the troll face that he seemed to be viewing the whole thing as a spectacle rather than just a fight.
I thought he was going to lose because he was going against a hungry guy with heavy hands, and something just told me that Werdum wasn't hungry leading up to the fight. When he started clowning during his walkout, it just convinced me that he was most likely gonna lose.
