Do you think Weidman vs Silva II would have done 1.1 million buys without Rousey?

If Rousey wasnt on that card, would that number change?

As bad as everyone wants to discredit rousey she is a star

It would have not changed. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE was talking about that rematch.

That card was garbage without Jim Miller.

This. If you watch mainstream sports or pay attention to the mainstream sports media you would know she is a bigger star in the mainstream media than anybody in mma.

Probably not. Ronda brings in quite a few casuals, for a few different reasons.

Yeah, most people were tuning for the main event. Altough she is a draw.

I think it would have. I think the same fighters who watch Ronda watch Anderson, Both being finishers. At least a million still. I think the reason it sold so well is because Anderson was coming off the loss to Weidman.

It would have been close to that. She sells for sure but that was a huge rematch and was very well publicized.

Wouldn't change.

Any of you ever talk to casuals?

"Oh there's a UFC? WHO'S FIGHTING"

That's what they always ask: "Who's fighting?" And they want to know who's the headliner. That's it.

The answer for this card would be "Anderson Silva." Even though Weidman was the champ. You say "Chris Weidman" people go, "who?" You say "oh he's fighting Anderson" and they're like "ohhh ok. Anderson Siva. Nice."

Ronda's a much bigger star now than ever before. Nowadays, you want people to ask who's on a card and when the answer is "Ronda Rousey," that means a lot more now than it did back then.

Yes it would. That fight was over a year ago. Rousey's stock and popularity has risen since.

No chance, but it would've been very strong. Probably around 800K.

Main events are responsible for the numbers.

It would have done the same with or without Ronda on the card. She is a huge draw now, but she was not back then. Don't believe it? Look at the numbers for the Weidman vs Machida card. Not even 600,000 buys and Ronda was on that card as well. Don't let the star power she has now get confused with the past. That card was all about Silva and Weidman.

Today would obviously be a different story.

I was there and can tell you that Ronda provoked the biggest crowd reaction easily walking out, both booing and cheering. Plus there were a shitload of Ronda shirts there, probably half the concession stand was Ronda stuff, she was a huge star even back then.
