Are there any who aren't in it solely to enrich themselves but to actually serve the people?

Any who are not self first then party and that's it?

I'd say that history has shown us that even the ones who come in with their heart in the right place, quickly learn that that ain't gonna work. And then they just go on grifting, comforting themselves with the idea that there really is nothing they can do to change shit.

less than 5 percent. With the amount of money, lobby groups, corporate influence, it's clear that most in congress swear allegiance to the dollar and greed, rather than country and the people they represent.

Anymore? I doubt it. The amount of money in politics has been a big problem in our elections and it was worsened exponentially when corporate bribery was essentially legalized by the supreme court with the 2010 Citizens United decision.

Start with those that have the lowest net worth or lowest increased net worth after joining Congress. I live in Orange County, CA and we had a bit of a goof in Dana Rohrbacher for years. He was beat out by a carpetbagger from Ohio that spent 3X his money recently. While people tried to call Dana all sorts of bad things, the man retired after decades in Congress worth less than $1 million. He may be a goof, but he's a decent man.

At this point, we'd honestly probably do better if congress were selected via random national lottery every 2 years.
outside of needing a bit longer to get accustomed to the legislative process, it would probably be a more meaningful experience of government.

Less than 5% is probably the most accurate guess.

Well, I heard from Santos that he supports starving children on his own, fights crime in his district on the streets to the lowest point ever, and created Fusion from sand at the beach which will save humanity. You'll see! Santos 2024!
He’s our last line of defense.

Lots of people like their own. I'm very leftist but I always liked my hometown rep, even though he was a Trump republican, because he got us wild amounts of federal money for the military base. He always won with like 70% to 80% of the vote. Dems just wouldn't vote against him. It'd be like putting a gun to your own head if you lived there.

Now do I like the next bunch of no good tea baggers' rep? Fuck no. But mine was alright.

While I do believe that some start out with good i tentions, I believe that 100% of politicians (worldwide) become corrupt over time.

Hardly anyone goes into Congress to enrich themselves (and no one actually gets rich by being in Congress). Whether they are right or wrong (or completely insane), almost all of them genuinely think they're doing good for the public.

You consistently make some of the dumbest statements. Never change.
Even if you disagree with him how is that comment stupid?
Little off topic but for the longest time I swore your name was BaseBlah

The guy doesn't think through any positions. Everything is based on gut feelings, and then he responds to any disagreement with insults. It's a pathetic existence, but better here than in the street.
