Do you think Jones is trying to just beat all his opponents at their own game?

The fight last night didn't seem Jones'esque to me. He would kind of duck his head and seemed more than willing to get on the inside and fight a close up fight with DC. Reminded me also of when he decided to Chael Sonnen Chael Sonnen. Also he also seemed more tired than usual by the end of round 1 and 2. I just thought it was weird.

Seemed like he also tried to Glover Glover.

This is why I still think Gus has a good chance... Jones doesn't have the movement/technique to Gus Gus.

Jones cage controlled Sonnen, Glover and DC. That is his style.

yes he said that a few years ago. He wants to embarrass fighters at their own game.

There's this myth on Sherdog that certain fighters purposefully beat their opponents at their own game. Fedor was a famous example of this, now Jones.

Neither of them actually do. They're well rounded and mix their attacks/threats well, so they do well in every aspect of the fight, but for the most part they prefer to fight where they are strongest. Fedor didn't strike with Schilt, and Jones didn't trade in the pocket with Rampage.

Even though Jones will beat him in the rematch, I don't think he will try to outbox Gus again.

Yeah it's ridiculous. Jones uses the same weapons in every fight, it moreso depends on how his opponents come at him.

He would have been happy to outstrike Chael at a distance, for example, but Sonnen bumrushed him. Glover is not a clinch fighter, he's a slugger like Rampage. Jones didn't slug with either.

If he tries to beat Gus in a finesse boxing match next fight, I might believe it. He is dominant and awesome enough without having to resort to this hyperbole!
