Barnett talked about betting against Couture - I think he said his gym pulled together $20k. I feel like I've heard several other examples (and definitely something since 2000), but off the top of my head I cannot remember.

I was a 5-1 underdog, so I gambled on myself and I won that fight. And I made more than the UFC would have ever paid me. The UFC paid me $30,000 to show and $30,000 to win, and I put all my money on myself and I won half a million.

Won half a mil. Good for him. "I almost single handedly brought down the UFC" for doing the same thing boxers have done sounds like a bit much though albeit UFC being owned by a casino family probably does put them in a different category.
