If I'm understanding the guy in the C-Span video correctly, they were doing that research with isolated spike proteins and testing if they bound to human cells. Not live viruses, just isolated spike proteins. Since those proteins can't reproduce on their own, no chance of them infecting humans

Spin all you want. He said it never happened, then he changed the definition of GOF on the NIH website and claimed he stood by his answer that they never funded it.

Edit: and an article saying scientist are split over whether that was technically gof or not isn't proof that fauci told the truth.

He was the head of NIH during all of it so if an article explains that he accidently lied then it is spin as well. And I posted the Congressional report that said he and others purposely downplayed the lab leak theory.

Btw, we still don't have this magical crossover animal; just guesses at what it could be.
