Do you think Bellator and PFL will do events during pandemic?

With the recent pandemic happening and the UFC likely attempting to do events in Florida, do you think the other promotions will do the same?

The Euro series is pretty much fucked for Bellator, so this would create much better cards as they will not be able to rely on cheap local talents for their shows. Arenas won't be in full swing for a long time. However, I doubt Coker will attempt this, but we'll see. DAZN could force them into doing shows per their deal. The selfishness in me sees the very stacked Bellator cards that could result in this.

I could see the PFL coming back as they too have a deal with ESPN, which plays a factor in the UFC doing shows during this time. They didn't make a huge chunk of change from their live gate anyways.

No. I can see PFL even postponing all of 2020. Bellator was fairly quick to cancel their future events so I think they will play this rather cautiously. This is going to be one long ass featherweight tournament.

I think if the UFC goes ahead successfully then they will. Organisations need money and they have TV deals which they can fulfil.

It'll be the lower level shows without decent TV deals which won't be running for some time, which is going to cause an issue for up and coming talent over the next few years.

Don’t think so PFL and Bellator doesn’t have the connections or capital Dana does (Dana is working with the White House) How will they do international fights without a private island... seriously?

Also PFLs Season Format won’t work under these circumstances. They probably done for the year.

I went looking for news and saw this :
PFL 2020 season kickoff postponed amid COVID-19 concern.
(The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) announced they will postpone the kickoff of the Philippines Football League (PFL) 2020 season from March 21 to a tentative date of April 18 due to the spread of COVID-19.)

Sorry, wrong PFL. So all I got is a guess and that is both will not be active for awhile, but if UFC gets going again that will push them to get off their asses. Bellator is making fun of fight Island but I think it is a cool idea.

Bellator can do closed door events for a while. The Casino shows besides maybe Mohegan or essentially FOR TV events as they don't rely much at all on Gate. PFL Could do the season and just condense it a little. Instead of the couple month break between regular and playoffs they could cut that down. I think it all depends on how many other states open up and how quickly.

I think it all depends on the media contracts and how they are written in both terms of length, shows, and payment. Maybe even some fighter contracts will come into play if they have termination dates in the contract.

If all money and the media contract in general is froze in time than I don't see much of a need to do a show outside of your media partner pushing you to. For PFL's and Bellator's of the world. Both run very lean in the background with amount of full time employees. I'd be shocked if either have more than 20 full time employees. Shit, I think Strikeforce was run with basically 6 to 8 full time people from a Coker interview years ago.
