Do you tell people you are an MMA fan?

Since all my friends are educated spaceship engineers, world known cardiologists and quantum physics scientists.

They dont even know what MMA is.

So no. I don't. I would. But I don't
I am a quantum physics scientist. Maybe we know each other IRL

:)

If it comes up in conversation, i'll mention combat sports. Either way I always wind up having to explain it anyhow

"I follow some combat sports" - - - - - "What exactly is a combat sport?" (genuine interest like you are going to drop some black art of death knowledge on them)

"I like MMA" - - - - - "What is M M A ?" (long retarded spaces in between because they think it's some obscure football league acronym or something)

I'll talk about it with anyone that being said the only people who actually are down for that discussion are my sherbros lol! So no I don't really talk about it always hoping and waiting though lmao some metal heads in bands I know of are mma fans none of the ladies however

I dont, I always assume they dont know shit and I don't want to hear someone's shitty opinion.

I found a colleague at the office who is a former taekwondo black belt , he didnt really follow ufc and now he watches it, but casually tho. Still good, now i got someone outside sherdog to talk about MMA.
When I went to gym for muay thai though, nobody but my coach and one other guy guy followed ufc. It was kinda dissapointing.
first gym i went to, nobody really followed the ufc n if they did they knew like 5 fighters at best, surprised me really

All my buddies are watching MMA because of me. I LOVE MMA. REAL WAR. EVERYBODY KNOWS IM MMA FAN!

I'm not ashamed to be an MMA fan. Martial arts is a big part of my life.

I wouldn't shy away from admitting I'm a fan of MMA. People tend to respect boxing as a sport even if they aren't a fan of it, I just tell 'em it's like an extended version of boxing. It involves more fighting styles than just your hands and is much more reminiscent of what a 'real' fight would look like. What's shameful about watching guys fight?

My fandom for WWE, on the other hand? That's something I would never bring up at the table unless someone else did it first, and even then I'd think twice before admitting it.

I’m that guy at work everyone goes up to asking “who’s fighting this weekend?”.

After I finish explaining to them the intricacies of maneuvers of fighters they don’t know shit about, the next question becomes “When’s Conor fighting again?”

Not really, don't think that something they would care to find out

After I knock guys out in bar fights I usually scream "I train UFC!" and then fall in a drunken stupor.

No, I really do not like to engage random sports fans into conversation. They are the second worst.

With friends sure, I've made maybe 30+ casual fans, I send out many txts before events and have been watching a lot more MMA with friends/casuals the last 6 months than I have in a long time. But majority of my friends are over 25 and quality people, none of them are 15 year olds hunting to abuse your insecurities.

I have a couple "gay porn", "scripted fights" friends, who are never going to grasp it but that's not going to change.

Anybody who knows me well enough to have a conversation where the subject might even conceivably come up will have known me enough not to judge me by it. I am sooooooooo far outside the expected demographic, my fanship comes off just as a surprising and funny factoid, an example of how eclectic my tastes are.

I mean, if they ask me, why not

Everybody in my circles know's me as the 'fight guy'. I've had satellite TV in my life for 30 years, and started watching boxing at around 10 years old. Since the early 90's people have been coming around to watch the big fight. I have no shame in admitting I like combat sports.. Why would I? I live for this shit. It's awesome.

I would but I’m a vegan crossfitter who adopts rescue dogs. By the time I’m finishing up a story there’s no one around to talk to.
So, you dont eat meat, but you watch a blood sport. Maybe your body is trying to tell you something?
