Do you remember/miss Unsolved Mysteries?

I used to watch it when I was a kid. I think it came on after Rescue 911. The UM theme music used to scare the shit out of me, then I'd go to my room down a long dark hallway and lay in bed afraid to close my eyes for hours.

lol...I remember rescue 911

I watch the hell out of The First 48 now

One of the stories on there inspired the beginning of jeepers creepers. It happened not too far from where I grew up.

This. I was a little ass kid with a typical kid imagination when I used to watch this and I hated to watch it while home alone (and yet I did it anyway). That theme music always brought me just short of pissin' my pants.

What I used to do when I watched it while home alone was have every light on in the house and I kept all my doors locked but had certain, strategically located windows cracked open (in case I needed to escape or yell for help).

All that sounds about right. I was probably 8 or so when I was regularly watching it with my grandmother. I loved it, but I don't think I would've had the courage to watch it alone.

That show was awesome. The theme song gave me nightmares as a child

Pretty good/creepy. If I'm not mistaken I think you can buy the entire thing on DVD. The creepy faux detective host was a hit too.

You can get a lot of Unsolved Mysteries stuff on DVD but the pricing is weird.

For instance, the UFOs collection can be had for a mere $12.73:

But Ghosts is $58.95, and that's used:

Psychics is $119.99:

And the winner is Unsolved Mysteries: Strange Legends at $599.99, whatever the fuck that's all about:

Well, I mean, ahem, they weren't.

I can't really speak to In Search Of because it was a bit before my time, but Unsolved Mysteries was awesome. To say otherwise is pure balderdash. That's right, I said it. Balderdash.

Hell yeah, I used to love the show and still do. Sometimes I come across it on lifetime, although it's the Dennis Farina ones, which aren't as good as Stack

I haven't seen the Farina episodes but my understanding is that they are basically just old cases that have been re-packaged and that the show doesn't have the feel of the old show. One person on IMDB described is basically a "Cliff Notes" version of the original.
