Its an acquired taste, I haven't eaten them in ages but used to eat them all the time with crackers.I'm on record I've never tried it

I personally do - whenever I would diet for a contest, a big portion of my protein intake came from either sardines or kippers (I hate tuna and I could only stomach so much chicken).
I really like the flavored kinds in either tomato sauce or with jalapenos. I don't know if this is universal or something specific to the west indies, but mashed up sardines with onions, pepper and toast is actually really popular (it also doesn't hurt that it is really cheap to make).
