Do you know your neighbors?

When I was a kid, everyone on my cul de sac knew everyone because they all had kids around the same age and every night, the parents would cone off my street so we could all play kickball or tag or whatever.

in the neighborhood for my current townhouse, nobody says hi to each other. when i do make conversation with a neighbor, they dont know any other neighbors names or anything about them, everyone might as well live miles apart

in my new suburban neighborhood, nobody knew each other or even each others names until my siblings moved in and made an effort to meet all the neighbors, now they know my family, but nobody else

some of my friends seem to know everyone around them, and others have no idea what their neighbors names are, let alone anything about them

do you talk to/know your neighbors?
what kind of neighborhood do you live in (houses, apartments etc)?

seems like the people who know their neighbors the most are people who hang out outside. i know that seems like common sense but nowadays people go straight to work, to straight inside to watch tv or go on the internet or whatever. probably why they never meet anyone

my sisters husband is always building shit in his garage and waves at cars as the pull into the block, which is why hes the only one anyone knows (and his family that he introduced them to)

This is true. I only know my other neighbors because of them. They know the entire neighborhood

Low class does not nescessarily mean very poor but yes I get your drift about having a different scale but low class is low class.

When you trash up the place invite drug addicts, sing Karaoke all day or pee on my wall you and cheapen property value you are low class.

I dont know them, but say hi when we pass eachother. One old lady loves cute dogs and babies, and i've got both, so we talk about that and weather and stuff while she pets my dog. There are mainly old people here, and a couple of 40something couples with older kids.i think we're the only ones under 40.

nope. I use to be friends with one of them but he moved. The people who moved in I havent talked to. I say hello to the ones on the other side of the house but thats about it. Growing up I basically knew everyone in my town...But as an adult and where I live now I just know who I work with and when I go back to my hometown only recognize a few townies

I just want to emphasize the big difference in 1st world countries I would not fault you for thinking I shit in the streets hahahahah.

My Grand mother and cousins live in SNA California its a lower middle class comunity when I saw their neighborhood I thought they are rich people but I find out later that its not a rich people community and according to my granny its filled with low class illegals and Indians who drives noisy cars and revs up their cars all the time,screams and talks loud all the time.

Lol... sorry Native Americans I am just repeating what my grandma told me.


I am merely stating that compared to other neighborhoods my current living condition would look like low class, even in local standards.



Its because the house is very old and kinda rundown you would think its abandoned.

When I said low class I am more focussing on the mentallity and behaviour of such people like throwing trash on the streets and outright acting super thirdworld and not trying to have any attempt to be decent at all.

Heck I know friends from other parts of Manila who don't want to come over to my place thinking they will get stabbed.


It just got worst in the last 30 years. Back in the 70s its much better no slums nearby kids go to piano lessons every saturday people dress decently and all the neighbores are good friends with our family.

I live in an apartment complex and just know the Indian family that is right next door, nice people let me know whenever they are having a party that's going late or something. There is two people above me but one is just a super fat guy who lives alone and barely leaves, and the other a Mexican couple who I don't think speak much English but always say hello when we cross paths.
