Do you hold pimps in a high regard?

Anybody who pimps out a minor is not okay in my book.

However, If I had immunity an was a total douche, I'd pull a travis bickle on pimps and set the hookers free...after screwing them. Except for minors. I'd drop them off at boarding school and have them pay me gas money for the ride. Recession man.

I dunno, is it easier for women to play mind games with and manipulate other women than it is for men? That would determine how much "respect" they merit IMO.

most of the time they are "crazy hardened drug addicts" is because of the pimps, it's how they manipulate the women. They usually find women that are either new to area and don't know anyone or someone with very low self esteem and few options. At first they convince the women they are looking out for them, then develop it into "you need to help me out, because helping take care of you isn't cheap" then the drugs are introduced as "here, take this, it will make it more bearable" to finally having complete control.

The women manipulate just as much if not more. Usually it's a manipulation to hate the men they are tricking for and the female pimp is the only one "that feels her pain" and can relate. I dated a girl that after about six months told me about a relationship she had with another woman. This girl ended up pimping her out and eventually had her do sex shows for Japanese businessmen.

It was a freaky story, the whole time I'm sitting there thinking "I really need to get tested for AIDS". Needless to say we "drifted apart" after that.

The glorification came from the Blackxplotation movies of the 70's and mostly from hiphop from the late 90's and 2000's, hell Snoop Dog bragged about his pimping and had that leech Don "the Magic" Juan hanging out with him glorifying it all the time among other people.
 
Legalize and regulate prostitution and most of these scumbags would be out of a job.
 
Or maybe public servants like me would be into a job.

I have a couple of friends who work in vice and some of the shit they tell me pisses me off. Like they'd make the girls wear smaller shoes to make them want to get off their feet and the only way they can take them off is to find a customer. If caught without shoes and not fucking a customer, they get the shit beat out of them. And they like to prey on the young girls (im talking as young as 8 years old) that are impressionable and easier to control. It's a growing problem. Gangs, at least here in Las Vegas, have been moving more into the prostitution game and less into the drug business because it's easier and the risks (prison time) are lower.

I think small businessmen deserve respect if they're successful and good at what they do. So, I think pimps deserve respect in the same way that CPAs or attorneys running small practice deserve, respect contingent on their performance and ability.

I think the nature of our culture's view of prostitution creates an environment that's conducive to the more negative aspects of pimping. The violence and manufactured drug dependency, that's bad news but could be wiped away if whores weren't treated as criminals.

I met a pimp in Portland who was basically just a security detail for two high end escorts, that working relationship seemed both mutually helpful and a little wholesome. I recognize that the story is much different for streetwalkers and crackwhores and such.
 
not much reason to respect them that I can see. Idoloizing pimps seems like a very adolescent thing to do. Hopefully you'll grow out of it.

you sound like you have very little real life experience with this situation. doing nothing but supplying drugs is a great way to get played. psychological control of someone is a different animal. The REAL pros at that would be cult leaders, but you gotta respect the pimp hustle.

great example of the manipulation and drug use is the way Manson controlled the women. He got them to prostitute and kill for him
