That looks like Canadian television at its finest.

That is true but it was American Canadian show.

I love to show you some respect bro!

I’m guessing it’s gone over your head as you Canadians don’t care much for football?

Lol I was doing a Karo parisyan impression which was odd and too obscure to catch. In googling Edgar Davis this guy Edgar David popped up so I am aware of him due to similar names.

You clearly know as much about football as I do about ice hockey pal!

Don't watch hockey. I am box ing fan and soon to compete. So you never heard of Edgar Davis?
I'll fight you if you can make weight in any of the 135/140/147 divisions

I am getting down to 140 pound. Are you from British Columbia by any chance?

Lol nice 140 is mine too

That would be my dad! Thanks for the post have you been able to find any old footage? A lot of old tapes got lost in storage

Wow. Both you guys are smaller than I thought. Of course, I don't mean that in a derogatory way because it was the weight class that I spent most of my amateur career competing at. So, there's nothing wrong with being a light welterweight. In fact, I wish I could have stayed at light welter or welter for my pro career but I grew into a light-middleweight & later, a middleweight. Which could be rough being only 5'8".
But, yeah, for all this time I always pictured you being middleweights or light heavies. Odd how the mind perceives things when you don't have a reference point. I don't think either one of you has posted pics of yourself here, have you? If so, I missed them.
So, you're both going to be in the same weight class, how interesting. One day, we may actually get to have a Sherdog light welterweight championship. That would be cool. :D
Stay cool, gentlemen.

I realized this is an old thread and I missed your post for some reason. But yes there are few footage outside of YouTube as well. Not sure if embedding is possible since its outside of YouTube.

Never heard of Edgar Davis. Apparently he went to the Junior Worlds in 1987 but never medaled. Maybe in Canada he was notable at some point but it seems nobody else has heard of him, either. Not on here or over at BoxingScene.

Anyone remember Edgar Davis Jr?

Let's see. He got stopped in the 1st round by a Cuban named Angel Moya in the prelims at the ‘87 Junior Worlds. Moya went on to win gold.

Got stopped again in the 3rd round by Mark Leduc in the quarter-finals at the ‘89 Canadian Nationals. Leduc went on to become national champion.

Lost 3–2 against Billy Irwin in the quarter-finals at the ‘90 Canadian Nationals. Irwin went on to become national champion.

The result code for two of the above bouts is "RSC" which stands for Referee Stops Contest. It's equivalent to a TKO in the pros but there could be several reasons for it. Here the use of "RSC" is unspecified. With that said, his bout against the Cuban ended in the very 1st round so he likely did get legitimately stopped (TKO'd) in that bout. That's all I could find on him without taking a deeper look into some of the other amateur records databases.

No longer in dailymotion now that I checked but he was in nightman and few movies. Sometimes movies get removed on YouTube.

There was an article few years ago and the guy tracked him down to find out what happened. Few well known boxers in my area mentioned that he was pretty badass dude and it was weird that he never became famous.

Thanks for digging this stuff out. I noticed Skipper Kelp and also Mihai Leu who the latter was a badass boxer and undefeated as well. Ricardo Lopez was an incredible boxer and his technique was truly special but Mihai had a nice deceptive style.

is the amateur DB something we can all query, or is it just a website like boxrec?

It's a public site that's free to query. No registration required. They have some partial records up on there as well for certain boxers but mostly it just tracks amateur tournament results at all the various levels (local, state, regional, national, continental & international).
