I had a considerable pay increase this year and i was wondering if i have to pay money during tax time. How do I know if i have to pay or if im getting tax money back. Is there a formula? I make 45k this year, single, no kids, i rent a house and i claim 1 as dependant. Ive been claiming 1 for a decade that way i get more each pay but i dont get much during tax refund. But now I am making a lot
more than I did last year. I was wondering if I could get an answer before i go to my tax lady and pay

There is a way to tell, but if you don't do your own taxes, and haven't figured it out yourself, chances are that you're too lazy/don't have the skill to figure it out.

Taxes are no mystery, all the info is available. You just have to do some math and figure it out.

You're not going to have to pay. You're claiming the same so even though your pay went up, you had to pay more in taxes.

Do your taxes at TaxAct online. All you have to do is just input the numbers from your W2's and all that and it does all the work for free. It'll tell you as you're going along how much money you're going to get at the moment.

I'll never understand why people give interest free loans to the government.

If you're doing your taxes right you should owe a little at the end of the year.
