Do you even want the US to be united?

I definitely want that. We’re always going to have disagreements—even the Founding Fathers had them with one another—but we need to try and stop vilifying each other, and we need to try and compromise.

Not as long as the far left keeps enabling this...

Congrates @Revolver ... Your “Poor” Trolling has come back to haunt your embarrassment of a city.

It’s fucking ironic to say the least

I don’t live in LA. But if enough people leave you may finally be able to afford to live here.

"..agree to disagree is shit like when you're discussing pizza toppings, not other peoples human rights..."

What reasonable person doesn't agree with this statement?

Here's the big difference in enmity between the left and the right:

The left burns with righteous anger against those who would deny a chronically ill American needed medical care on the basis of their inability to afford it.

The right burns with righteous anger against those who would raise taxes on American billionaires.

That's it in a nutshell.

So you think all 70 million people who voted Republican believe that conspiracy?

Of course not but the Trump voting base sure does. They also believe in QAnon in mass numbers as well. Remember how many millions believed obama had a fake birth certificate.

Most right wingers are easily swayed by conspiracy theories. They’re more gullible in that regard.

The flip side of that is Conservatives saying those who voted for Biden voted for the destruction of America, for socialism/Communism/Marxism.

Its mostly my leftist friends who post such declarations, however in all fairness today one of my conservative friends avowed he's quitting FB, Mark Zuckerberg can go to hell for censorship and that he can't be friends with those who support slaughtering babies and communists

Because it's a gross distortion of how/what the "other side " believes.

Twitter fucking sucks, bunch of stupid animals in there trying to virtue signal at the cost of others

Reading the millenial cuck-rich comment section under that tweet definitely makes you feel like the US is finished. Regardless of whether it arose by chance or not, something very similar to the concept of cultural subversion that Yuri Bezmenov warned about is getting into advanced stages in the US. And it's fully supported and propped by the mainstream media. It's hard to see a path forward when the citizenry itself has become devoid of real values, admirable aspirations and work ethic, and instead chooses to pray at an altar of victimhood, racial interest groups, hate for one's country, laziness, entitlement and resentment and the desire to harm those who make something out of their lives.

Virtually all of my male friends are Conservative, and voted for Trump. All most all my female friends are liberal. A few of my guy friends and 2 pro Trump female friends post 99% of the memes and 'facts'. The liberal friends on my FB really don't post any political stuff, with the lone exception being a pictures from BLM protests.

What would your solution to homelessness be? Would it maybe be the Salt Lake City model where these people are given housing, food and jobs programs?

rodney king said that first.
the media companies like cnn and their ilk have been dividing the country for a decade, start with getting rid of them and the influencers before you talk unity.

the north african slave trade.

Beautiful idea that will never happen.

Both sides are too ignorant and pig headed to ever be willing to even listen to the opposite let alone embrace them.

Y'all are eternally up shit creek. Good luck.
Online banter, blogs and enthusiatic suppoters of either side are really not a good measure of gauging how divided people are. I travel all over the MidWest and have lived on all corners of the US. I often travel into conservative MidWest heartland area, and in my expereince the division people perceive is really not evident.

My expereince with online rightwingers / conservatives is very different from my expereince with conservatives in real life. My best friend is a Trump voting conservative. Lots of friends and a few relatives vote GOP. I get along quite well with everyday conservatives and have a lot in common with them, but online Conservatives, the rightwing blogosphere seem like totally different people to me.

I think the majority of people don’t care that much about politics or at least not enough to get mad at others over it. There does seem to be an uptick of people who have gotten into the war time mindset that they are somehow going to one day completely defeat the other party and half that countries voters if they just show their anger enough publicly. It’s dumb and childish and they get away with it because most people rather hear someone out and try to emphasize rather than telling them to cut it out and grow up.

I will say you just have to look at his step by step and I think it’s very clear Biden ran more so than any of the primary candidates on a uniter platform. There may be some in-party disagreements about that but he won and leads the party now and Trump certainly was more divisive out of the two. So in the short term, the country tried to move back towards decency and civility.
