Do you believe Nate that he is a better striker?

Immediately after the fight in the Octagon Nate said words to the effect that he was expecting McGregor to get ahead early because he had sparred many more rounds in preparation.

If Nate had a full fight camp of sparring do you think he would have been winning from the first bell?

I think he would lose the first round 9 times out of 10 because McGregor is a more skilled striker.

naw diaz is better

just diaz has a style that lends itself to a slow start

he wouldn't be knocking conor like crazy in the first but he would've likely been tagged a little less. from there, he would've asserted himself dominantly

I think McGregor is the more skilled striker as well.

Functionally though I think Diaz's stamina and pressure would take over maybe as early as late in the 1st.

Yeah I think Conor has a more diverse striking skill set and obviously much more power. That being said Diaz masterfully rolls with punches. slowly taking power off of those shots as time continues. Regrdless of what all of the shertards are saying, this IS an interesting fight still. Really even more interesting than the first fight as they both will have full camps for the match up.

They're both very good strikers in their own right

I believe Nates style is better for this particular fight though. A fighter with a granite chin with good boxing and a good reach is Conors kyrptonite

I just can't see McGregor beating Diaz, especially at 170

Once again: winning the first few minutes because you are throwing the kitchen sink at the opponent, not thinking past the first round means jack shit.

Unlike most of the haters, I really like Conor's style and believe that on a good day, he beats Nate or anyone else at LW. He is THAT dangerous. However, odds are that Conor laying back more + full camp Nate = Conor once again wilting under Diaz' pressure and getting finished, in the 3rd or 4th this time. Nate wins 8-9 out of 10 IMO.

Diaz is the better boxer. McGregor is a more well rounded striker.

Diaz is the far better boxer, so it depends on what striking skill you're talking about? Conor probably has the more diverse striking arsenal, but Nate's hands and defense are simply better. If Conor used his kicks better, it might be something that helps even things out. But anyone who is somewhat versed in kicking will see that he often throws with poor technique. Whether that is by design and they are used as a set up or distraction, I do not know? Some are thrown well and some are just thrown. I think the striking defense is the biggest disparity in their skills. And what makes Nate a bad matchup for Conor.

Diaz is better and turned Conor to a panic wrestler

Diaz is the superior striker. I feel you have to take all things into account, and for all this movement crap, Connor has very poor defense.

He fights with his hands at his waist. He gassed in a round, through striking, and that's a facet of your ability. I mean think about it, he's a striker who gassed striking. Usually, a striker gasses through grappling, or the duration of a bout, he got tired in 6.5 minutes.

Better boxer, and horrible stance for Conor. Southpaw, lanky, durable, and can rock Conor.

Get over it. Nate's PLAN was to start slow. And even then, it isn't like Conor dominated the first round... Yeah he bloodied Diaz up a bit, but it wasn't like he put on some kind of striking clinic. He won a competitive first round against a guy who hadn't put in any sparring time.

Conor would make adjustments and win a rematch via decision or late tko

The majority of their fight was on the feet and Diaz won lol that should say enough.

Conor is a better boxer but nate better fighter (right now)

Dunno about "striking" but Nate is definitely the better pure boxer, technically.

I think Conor is a better striker than Nate. Conor is more varied in his strikes and mixes things up. I think the main reason why Nate won was because Nate slips punches better - Superior head movement inside the pocket is where Nate excels. You can throw combos at Nate and he reacts like a professional boxer. Sure he gets tagged but so do plenty of pro boxers. Point is, he slips so much better than Conor, who relies on bewilderment and antics to mask his lack of in-the-pocket defense. Someone who slips combos, has a great chin and range is dangerous. That's Nate. Conor really only has power and athleticism coming from a Southpaw stance. But no real quality head movement beyond slipping the first punch in combination. In the rematch, I think Conor will be way more measured and stands a great chance of winning a more boring points victory where Nate is neither hurt or discouraged.

Some of that sh$% he does is silly and only works if you have a reach advantage.
Like spinning back kicks and all that TKD crap.

I works for JBJ cuz he's huge, and it worked for McGConor because he was also big for division.

So yes, Nate is a better striker because he techically beat Conor who tried to box w him and over-relied on athleticism and that strong left. All Nate had to do was avoid the left and keep distance. Conor should have seen this and adjusted game instead he kept on.

Conor is a more versatile striker, but Nate Diaz is the more effective there for the better striker.
