    As in

    "Tequila makes me angry"

    "Wine makes me relax"

    "Vodka makes me happy"

I generally keep a well stocked bar and when I have bethes over I hear these comments a lot when I offer a selection.

The appropriate response is which one makes you horny?

I certainly don't like wine in a club or washing down a 40 dollar steak with tequila but at the end of the day getting drunk is getting drunk.

One alcohol doesn't make me more or less angry or happy than the other.

Why do people say this kind of stuff?

Probably partly true, probably partly confirmation bias.

Dunno why, but a lot of it rings true for some. Of the times I drank Cuervo Tequila, most ended up with me getting angry or raging at some point. Other brands like 2 Fingers (I know, but I was a poor college student at the time) didn't seem to have the same effect.

    Liquors, no. People, yes.

I'm a happy drunk. I know a lot of angry drunks.

This is what I thought OP was going to be about.

I'm too busy trying to keep my shit together to do or say much when I get drunk, but I haven't found the type of alcohol to have any effect on that.

Champagne definitely makes me a different kind of drunk than other kinds of alcohol.

People say this kind of stuff because it's easier than taking responsibility for their actions or they like the idea of different alcohols having "magical" properties.

Tequila is a funny one to me. People think it makes them crazy/wild/stupid but people usually do multiple shots of tequila, so they get drunk quickly, and drunk people do crazy/wild/stupid things.

I saw a study that said it was false. Basicially if you binge drink it's like a placebo effect because it's in the back of your mind......but personally I think there's some amount of truth to it. I can drink every whiskey under the moon, but if I happen to start on the Jack Daniels, I get in trouble somehow. Black magic that stuff!

This goes for me as well.

I never understood the this drink makes me this or that. To me being drunk is being drunk.

Back in the golden days of partying in Ibiza we would drink TVR's, a double shot of tequila, a double shot of vodka topped off with red bull. I felt like they made you like an energetic hyper drunk, but that probably had to do with the red bull.

I dont know. Personally I dont experience different kinds of drunk unless its my mood before drinking.
Like if im tired it will make me more tired, and if im energetic it will make me more energetic.

It could be a case where the alcohol magnifies the mood you are already in. When you choose to drink wine you are already pretty chill and either drinking it over dinner or conversation. Shooting Tequila you might be in a more aggressive mindset already etc.

Its just an excuse to cover peoples underlying emotional instabilities.

I have never once been anything but drunk when I was drunk.

For me it's amount, not type. I get more and more confident the drunker i get. So first I'm relaxed/sometimes sleepy, and then it dials up to happy/social and if i drink too much it's cocky/invincible. This is when i do and say dumb shit, but I don't get to that point very often.

    This.

I'm primarily a happy drunk and sometimes just a quiet drunk.

Most guys I know start off as happy drunks but soon become angry drunks.

There is definitely a difference between hard alcohol and beer, but that could be explained by how quickly the alcohol is getting into your system.
