Do you agree with the decision to not give Palhares his SOTN bonus?

You have no concept of a working analogy. Pierce is consenting to a fight and he enters a fight knowing Palhares is going to be attempting this move. In fact, he can be almost certain it is the ONLY move Palhares is going to pull off this move. So in what way is that like people suddenly pulling guns on other people, shooting said guns, and either hitting or missing people?

A closer analogy is that Pierce is like a kid who hangs out with gang members, then gets upset when he gets shot or beaten to s#it by a rival gang. It's still not correct, but its a closer analogy than the BS you just tried to create.

If anyone is an idiot here....

I never said shit about it not being a fight, no shit its a fight and theres the risk of injury, I'm talking about malicious intent.

He asked if Palhares ever injured anyone, but thats fucking beside the point, if Palhares is doing stupid and reckless shit then he should be reviewed, hence why pointing a gun and firing is a fucking stupid and reckless idea, but hey as long as he doesnt hurt anyone its okay? Oh please.

Theres this idea that just because two people have agreed to mutual combat that anything goes, but it doesn't and getting written up for unsportsmanlike conducts makes sense when someone goes over the boundry. If you dont think he did then big fucking whoop, it's naturally a subjective matter most of the times.

Mate youre the bitch who doesnt even train. I am rehabbing a torn shoulder due to BJJ, and I do not have any problem with what happened.

You stop into the cage bad shit happens. You agree to fight a leg lock specialist and you accept these sort of risks.

But with that said Palhares is a heelhook master. He holds it at the point before serious damage as he has done it literally 1000s of times. He could if he wanted to instantly tear the knee to shreds then let go. But he cranks it at the correct level.

Give the man some credit, and joint he gym before you ever post on this forum again you dimwit.

What in the fuck does me training have to do with anything, don't be a fucking idiot.
This wasn't about it being a fight where things can happen, no shit injuries happen, this is about malicious intent.

Babalu was fired for a similar incident wasn't he?

bullshit IMO. He did NOT hold on for long and I dont think he's doing it intentionally.

I can't believe people are actually defending Palhares.
It's CLEAR that he cranks the leg even after the ref steps in.The ref actually tries to break free Pierce's leg.

And people say "BS"?"it's normal"?

Yes. I'm a fan but he needs a deterrent, it's getting ridiculous now.

absolutely

I don't even consider that punishment, it's just what had to be done

I am curious to see what will be his real punishment

Pierce tapped. But Palhares waited for the ref to jump in. Well within a secod the ref jumped in Palhares released his grip. So no I do not agree. Whatever he or others did in other fights is irrelevant.

My first day of jiu-jitsu, I was taught that leg locks (ESPECIALLY heel hooks) are the most dangerous submissions. Heel hooks don't hurt until it's just about too late to tap...and if you keep cranking, you'll blow a dude's knee out and ruin his career. Palhares has done this how many times now?

I say cut him. He's had more than one chance to stop pulling this kind of shit. Absolutely unacceptable.

Paul Harris has no regard for his opponent's safety after the bout has been ended by the referee, he has shown this NUMEROUS times. Withholding a bonus is the least they can do, I'd also be down with a fine and a suspension. If there's anything to set a hard precedent for, it's a blatant violation of the rules regarding fighter safety.

And I'm someone who was cheering for Paul, and very psyched when he got the submission, I absolutely love heelhooks. But for fuck's sake, get your shit together man. Enough with the macho/sadist/whatever it is bullshit, too many times now, same guy. Knees often don't heal 100%, that shit is no joke.

Yes. Also cut him and call every athletic commission you know and ask they refuse to license him for any future fights.

No I don't agree, Palhares let go of the submission about .5 seconds after the ref came in.

Just look at the gif, there is less than a second between when the ref comes in and when Palhares lets go.

The problem here doesn't seem to be that he held it too long but that he cranked it too hard too fast and didn't give him enough time to tap before it caused damage.

If one has bad intent thou shall not receive content. :icon_chee Live and learn.

agreed. I think this is another one of those times where extenuating circumstances (the commentary) has completely influenced people. Just like Bones vs Gus. Fans and fighters say Gus. Every mma journalist said Jones.

not to say it wouldn't be talked about at all. I know what people are seeing. but if a guy lets go less than a second after the ref jumps in then thats absolutely fine in my book.

Yes, they are. but this isn't a bjj match its a fight.

It's a little different when the guy across from you is literally trying to murder you for all intents and purposes. Palhares doesn't have a plan B. He has to crank that shit and save his ass.

So youre saying they should get rid of heel hooks because they are too dangerous?

they should get rid of punches too. way too dangerous IMO.

have the fighters show up, have a nice hug, and everyone goes home safely! No W/L either. Everyone wins.

Always fight until the ref pulls you off, the ref hadn't got to Hendo while he was in mid air landing the H bomb. That is not comparable to what Paul Harris has done continuously through his career, not stopping when the ref jumps in.

Exactly! I say always hold the submission or keep doing damage until the ref intervenes BUT the ref should not have to try and actively pull you off!
