    What do you think?

First thing first, this is not boxing. This is a private company, so they should be the one deciding who lives and who dies aka who fights for the title and who doesn't.

UFC should stop giving so much power to fighters.

I think the majority of these UFC champions we have now don't deserve to have any leverage. If they had like 5 or more legit defenses then yeah they deserve some tune up fights or a money fight, but otherwise not really.

hell no. they should have no say. number 1 contender gets the shot. if u just fought him it goes to number 2 etc.

Not in all cases, but in some yes.

I like Bisping - Hendo because they've both given their lives to the company, and a titleshot is a nice retirement gift for Hendo, and a great shot at redemption for Bisping.

A champ who has taken on all comers for over two years, yes. First title defense, definitely not.

No, but it's better than not-champs calling the shots (cough, Conor getting Aldo without having to face Edgar).

The champions should not be deciding who the top contender is.

UFC is a business which happens to be a sport...champions calling out for big fights instead facing the #1 ranked fighter in their division makes more business sense for UFC at the end of the day.

Of course they can call the shots because they have leverage. they'd be a fool not to exercise that leverage. Look at it like this:

These guys are prizefighters. THEY FIGHT FOR MONEY. If there exists a fight that is makeable and that can sell, why wouldn't the UFC book it? Does it make sense for the UFC to say, "Hey Tyron, GSP wants to fight you and we know that fight will do about a million buys. That means you'd make about 3 million dollars. But fuck you. You're gonna fight Wonderboy, do about 300k buys and make about 600k."

I'm sure an extra couple mill is more important to Woodley than the prestige of beating another fighter the casual fans don't know. Hence, if the UFC tries to block it, T-Wood will stall as long as possible, faking injuries and whatnot until he gets the fight he wants.

The rankings are just as much of a sham. If the UFc wants Tyron to fight GSP, all they'd have to do is rank GSP as the #1 contender.

No, I think it should be more calculated and the actual number one contender should get it

UFC is now owned by WME which is an entertainment management company...it's all about the money, it's not MLB, NFL or NBA. They'll make the fights which make the most money. Like it or not the fighters will now need to act as promoters for themselves in order to get the fights they want. Woodley recognizes this, that's why he's calling out money fights and not top contenders. Believe me UFC will make the money fight before the fight that makes sporting sense. Look at Hendo & Bisping...it's all about the money in England.

Well Conor has just showed all the other fighters in the UFC such as Woodley and others the Promised Land and now they are all going there.

Wouldn't be a problem if fighter pay blah.

For the fighters its smart and I have no problem with that whatsoever. If two men want to fight and the fans want to see it,i dont see why it cant be done. If say woodley beats diaz or gsp,and bisping would beat hendo i would hope theyd go back on track after that though.

I don't blame them for attempting to make more money and/or avenging previous losses and if the UFC sees it their way then whether I agree, disagree, like or dislike a certain matchup then fair game to them.
