Do you agree the Jones cocaine story is the most overblown non-story in mma history?

No, that would be Conor McGregor

McGregor is a legit breath of fresh air to MMA. So far he's everything Chael claimed to be but was never good enough to live up to.

Once he blows through Siver, i can see him taking the belt.

Yes it's a bit overblown but some of that is because of Jones himself.

It wouldn't be such a big deal if Jones hadn't said stuff like this:

Jones wanted to be perceived as a good guy, a man who follows the christian faith, and good father to his kids etc. and getting a DUI and doing cocaine is pretty much the opposite of that.

This.

If Jones would have lived up to his statements or not said them at all this would be overblown.

He touts himself as this upstanding role model and speaks about it in interviews even recently and clearly he is nowhere near the man he claims to be.

Few people are bothered about his issues as much as they are bothered about his hypocrisy. The public can accept a drunk driver, a drug user, and asshole. They don't accept them when they claim to be religiously and morally superior under the pretense of being a good person while also being a drunk driver, a drug user, and an asshole.

He can't help it when gramline Friday comes along, if he wants to do coke, let him do coke, it's his career and life he will mess up.

Hi,

When you are taking stimulants during camp that allows you to continue to train at highly intense levels throughout the camp rather than battling the fatigue, mental and physical that other fighters experience, wouldn't that be considered a performance enhancer? Stimulants have been used for precisely this reason for ages in various military organizations. I apologize if this has been addressed previously in this thread.

Fucking simpletons on this board...

Jones tests positive for cocaine.

No punishment.

Accidental test, test results leaked.

Jones goes to rehab.

ALL RIGHT AFTER HIS TITLE FIGHT.

How is this overblown?

No. Its not in the top 1000. A champion caught abusing cocaine and potentially steroids. + the UFC trying to sweep it under the rug means its a pretty important story.

Dude has been busted for drunk driving prior to this. He obviously has some issues, despite folks trying to act like he doesn't.

Him quitting rehab after a day tells me it's only a matter of time before we see him involved in some other substance-related fiasco.

I think intelligent people aren't looking at the "oh he took some coke", they're looking at the "why the hell did the comission test him for coke when 1) they couldn't do anything about it even if he failed and 2) why the hell didn't they do a CIR test instead of testing for coke after it was revealed Jones has the testosterone ratios of a woman?

The coke is most likely a cover, nobody in any job goes out their way to do a wrong test, that was planned and who's best buddies with the NSAC? Lorenzo Fertitta, hmmm rich and powerful casino owner possibly covering up something shady, couldn't be...

The whole coke being blown out of proportion is exactly what's wrong with this situation.

For me it was never about crucifying Jon Jones, it was about the uniformity of punishments handed out by the athletic commissions.

To all of you saying Jon Jones has earned his double standards, you are a cancer to the world.

that he does blow is a non story.

that the AC's have (once again) shown that they are seemingly winging this and making decisions on the fly instead of having a well thought out policy implemented and followed, isn't.

One is not punished if one gets tested positive for cocaine outside the competition. Jon's test was not post fight test. Jones did not get caught of peds. Just to clarify for simpletons.

Dr. Christiane Ayotte, the head of the WADA-accredited laboratory in Montreal, saw no problem with Jones' T/E ratio.
One way to manipulate a T/E ratio downward would be to take epitestosterone, but Ayotte said that would be easily detected in a screening.

"I read the interviews of 'specialists' on that topic [in MMA media accounts], and, well, I am sorry, but such T/E values are not at all abnormal," she said. " … The administration of epitestosterone is easily detected. It does not give a small increase that looks natural, but a huge peak that is very difficult to control. I have seen only one case of attempted masking with epitestosterone and it was readily detected.
