Do you agree Dana White is losing power/control over UFC?

With WME-IMG buying UFC/Zuffa from the Fertitta brothers in mid 2016, many started wondering if Dana White was going to walk away, since he had been best buddies with the Fertittas for decades. Turned out that wasn't the case.
The bald goofy stayed as the president of UFC and continued to bash fighters always he felt like it, and he's still there to this day.

However, i have been realizing that he's much more absent than before. He only shows up to big cards and his post fight scrums are very rare. He barely speaks to the media, only to ESPN and TMZ (lol).
Although that was also the case before, in my opinion nowadays we see Dana White lying to us much more often. It's like his word/opinion has lot value.

Also, important to remember that WME made a clean up in the house when they bought UFC. Many people in the staff were released or retired (bye Chuck, Dave Sholler, Joe Silva, Brian Stann, Kirk Hendrick) while many were brought in (Mick Maynard, David Shaw, Hunter Campbell).

I was thinking about it a few days ago after hearing the MMA hour interview with Ben Askren. He says that it wasn't Dana who negotiated and talked with him, it was Hunter Campbell, UFC Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

So here's another case of someone in UFC being objective and pragmatic, not putting much weight on Dana's personal problems with the fighter.

Now UFC fighter Abu Azaitar with Hunter Campbell, years ago - since then Abu and his brother, Ottman Azaitar, were signed to UFC

Hunter Campbell is also the guy who Dana mentioned as "a guy in the company who was a big Diaz fan"

So, shertards, do you also think Dana is losing it?

The reason he stopped doing scrums is because his words were being used in litigation against the UFC, primarily as it relates to the employee/contractor issue, but presumably for all sorts of shit.

Not according to his bank account... dude gets things done. He just put on the biggest UFC in history.

Hard to lose power or control when a year ago you gain 300mil

I think it's just normal progression. The company gets bigger. There's more day-to-day stuff to do. Dana doesn't have time to answer stupid media questions or negotiate every deal. You hire people and delegate.

That's fair. Makes sense, but sometimes i feel like his word is being ran over, he's not deciding some stuff, but it's minor things such as Askren joining UFC. Nothing really big.

I don't know about power or control, but he obviously doesn't give a shit anymore.

I think he's the face/voice of the company, but he probably doesn't have the final say on everything. The Askren/Mighty Mouse thing has been talked to death, but I think the 125 division isn't selling, so it could have been a profit driven decision. What do you do when you have something great, but you can't sell it? What's the point of having it? Maybe they just said, "fuck it"

Dana got paid a shit ton of money when WME took over so he probably doesn't give as much of a shit as he did once before.

ignorant MMA fans always thought Dana White ran everything....*shrugs*

Dana probably never held the type of power we might imagine. It seems that the Ferttitas first, and now, a corporate boardroom, were the real source of direction and authority.

He's just a promoter and the company is owned by another entity altogether.

Stupid thread.

Dana is the best thing a parent company could have
