Do we still think this is a new breed of MW's?

An out of his prime Bisping just rocked and dropped Silva. The same Bisping who couldn't win a top ten fight during the period where MW was apparently weak. He's still in the top ten today. Is MW's really better? Or has the rapid decline of Anderson [Around the time he got dropped by pillow fist Sonnen] given the illusion of a superior division?

New breed?

Both fighters have over 30 fights behind them.

anderson has declined a lot, no doubt about it. the division is better though obviously with guys like weidman and rockhold etc

MW division is far better now then before. When Anderson was champ there was less competition which is fact.

Anderson made the division look worse as a champ and now he's making it look better than it is.

Evolution in MMA is pretty limited except in newer divisions most noticeably men's BW and WSW.

Yeah but if Rockhold beats Weidman in the rematch and Jacaré, then it goes back to being shallow till there is a new champ.

It's still better than it used to be. Just think about when Anderson was fighting Maia/Cote/Leties for the title. There is better fighters now

MW has always been a good division, it just didn't seem like it because it had a dominant champion who stayed at the top for years.

You mentioned Bisping being out of prime but what about Silva? The man is 40, if anything he should have retired after the second loss to Weidman

Maia isn't a bad fighter. I'm not 100% sold on Weidman/Jacare/Romero being better than prime Hendo/Vitor/Sonnen etc.

Yes they are. UFC MW division was utterly pathetic during Anderoid's reign.

One-dimensional pillow-fisted Sonnen was his greatest nemesis lol

That's the point, it puts the Weidman fight into context. This is a guy losing to Bisping. He's not the same fighter.

Bisping is doing better in the current MW division than he ever did in the 'weak' MW division [+ He's older with eye issues].
