One of the most confusing topics for me, on one side you have the conservative and rich folks claiming they are already taxed at too high of a rate that far exceeds what other people are paying by a percentage basis. On the other hand you have the liberal argument that states the rich pay even less taxes than poor people by using write offs and deductions. So who exactly is telling the truth? You'd think it would be fairly easy to see which side is telling the truth by looking at data and figures that are available.

You are referencing the debunked claim that Warren Buffet's secretary paid more in taxes.

The left has silenced free speech, disabled commentary and controlled all social media so even stupid questions like this are asked time and again.

I believe the ETR for "the top 1%" averaged around 32% of their income, and middle income earners average around 13% of theirs. The US has one of the most progressive tax system in the industrialized world and the highest tax revenue, and the tax revenue sure as hell isn't coming from the 0 dollars poor people pay.

The complaint from the left is that long term capital gains is taxed lower than income, which does increase a person's net worth on paper but isn't actually income. Short term capital gains(a year or less) is income and is taxed at regular income tax rates.

Liberals see 1 or 2 ultra wealthy who are successful in using loopholes and assume everyone making more than $12/hr doesn't do their fair share.
Sure, just 1 or 2 guys, no systematic inequality whatsoever.

This has nothing to do with taxes
Progressive tax system is one of the few ways to narrow the gap. Let me guess, you're going to pretend you're rich and be outraged on how socialists steal your wealth.
Wow look how equal everyone in broke ass Africa is!
Glad to know that's your standard. You'll be there soon with your failure to control COVID.

Wealth=/= income. Also taxes are a tool to raise funds to do something with. Not a punishment for having money

Hahahaha!
Not a chance!
You see we have business and industry in the civilized parts of the world that will always ensure we prosper.
Africa will stay as they are until they stop the infighting and build their nation.

I used to do taxes, personal and business..

the upper class, 6 figure, and millionaires pay a $hit ton.

some with hold more taxes than many earn in a year.
I wonder how this subject is even up for debate then? It's not like debating race or social issues that cant really be proven either way. In this case there are actual data available that can only be interpreted one way.

There's actual data for the racial and social issues too. Liberals ignore that data and burn down the local Wendys instead.
