Personally, I really favored Claudia. Without starting that discussion again, she definitely did well in their first fight and she has a good style for beating Jedi.

Not sure what's wrong with Nova Uniao though. It seems like the missed to evolve and stay at the top of the game. I don't even think that's such a sudden turn of events, I think they got figured out more and more and fighters simply became better than they were 5 years ago.

Also their amount of game-planing and preparing for a specific opponent and understanding what their fighters' problems are, seems to be on Cesar-Gracie-Team-level, basically nonexistent.
They don't fix any holes at all, it's like they reached a certain level and that's about it, no more progress at all.

Do you think Claudia could be in the same situation? Good enough to beat most girls in the division but maybe not well prepared enough to beat a fighter who's one step above her other opponents.

No.

Joanna wins no matter what gym Claudia trains at.

I don't know who those people are but I'd check anyone out of Brazil

Are you using Barao and Aldo to make this conclusion?

Does Claudia still have a male eight pack? That will be the determining factor.

No, cuz of gay.

For reference, NU are 3-12 in the UFC since October

Yes, Nova Uniao are notorious for blowing up after weigh ins using IVs.

Inb4 brazillian mma after USADA...

No idea, I didn't look up any facts before creating a thread or think too much about it, just had a feeling they're not doing well and wanted to start some thread anyway.

That's the case for TS many more times than it should.

Gadelha will lose because she doesn't have the gas tank to go 5 rounds. In the first match she was able to clinch and takedown JJ, but she never accomplished anything more than stalling.

No. JJ wins regardless of what happens with other NU fighters.

Barao did fine last night.
Won the 1st
Got tagged by a lot of hard shots but did not drop or get wobbled.
Reasonably close 3rd but I had Stephens winning.

In that group you're talking about, the only one who should have won his fight is Aldo.

Gadelha and Barao just ran into talented, red-hot fighters. And now Barao is feeling the effect of going up on weight: stronger and longer opponents requiring big adjustments.

The most dominant wmma champ of all time trained out of a running joke of a gym, and doesn't the current wbw champ train at TAM?

WMMA isn't advanced enough that you need to fight at a high level gym to be champ. In males MMA you need extremely high level trainers and sparring partners; in wmma if you have good cardio you can get by training against HS wrestlers.

Yes.

Barao went 5 rounds with Faber in a fast paced bout, then gasses in the 2nd vs Stephens without cutting weight. He was bouncing around and moving well in the 1st round and that blew his wad seemingly. Something's off. USADA probably doing a number on Nova Uniao, and their recent record shows it.

I'm thinking both Gadelha and Aldo won't look nearly as good as they used to. JJ and Frankie will win their fights.
