Do rashguards typically shrink? Stretch?

I don't mean when you wear them. Obviously they stretch. I mean over time.

I have a number of rashguards and I never paid much attention to how they fit after a while, but I just bought a Volcom rashguard that seems to be just the teensiest bit tight. I'm afraid going up a size would make it too loose. Assuming that I hand wash them in cold water and air dry them, does normal wear and tear cause them to shrink or stretch (like canvas sneakers?) Or nothing at all?

Thanks.

Mine haven't shrunk or stretched in the three years I've had them. But I have the WalMart ones.

Non of mine have shown any signs of shrinkage. They haven't gotten loose or too stretched out either.

They don't shrink. It is funny when someone comes back after some time off and they are like "oh, my rashguard shrunk". No - you got fatter.
