Do people still think Overeem would crush Jones at HW?

Overeem seriously disappointed on Friday so how do people think he would fare against Jones if the latter moves up?

Jones doesn't have that much KO power (until he lands a spinning elbow...) so that's good news for AO. However, Overeem's striking also looked slow and telegraphed. Jones has better speed, mobility and probably defense. I won't be surprised if Jones outbones Overeem on the feet.

Honestly, the overhand right that hurt Machida probably has Overeem doing the stanky leg at this point.

It would honestly be a mismatch, and no Overeem fan should ever want to see it.

Depends on how well he can take Overeem's strikes.

It's not like Overeem was doing nothing before being KOd by these guys at HW.

I was kinda scared Ben was going to get finished because those strikes Overeem were landing on Ben were Hellish.

Yes!! Jon Jones doesn't have the ko power to even crack overeems chin! Jon jones might get knocked out and it would be a different grappling fight because that's what jon jones would want to do. Either early ko for overeem or late stoppage for jon because of overeems gas tank! Rothwell would do the same to jon jones that he did to overeem if jon jones stood with him!

Jon Jones has weak chin. Men at HW are just a different breed. Overeem via KO Rd 1.

Sure brah. Keep telling yourself that.

I don't think Jones could kayo him very easily, unless he grounds and pounds him.

I was wincing every time Overeem landed a shot on Rothwell. Overeem's strikes have some bad intentions behind them. When Overeem goes all out, it's pretty scary for his opponent. The problem is that Overeem is all offense and zero defense. That means that if you have a chin and patience, you can weather the storm and stop Overeem.

Does Jones have the chin to take it and come back with his own? I think he does. I'd say it would be 80/20 in favor of Jones. Overeem could take Jones out, but It's more likely that Jones weathers and catches Overeem in a sub after Jones rocks Overeem.

Lol! Overeem would win by early ko! I could see jon jones coming in and getting cocky and boomshakalaka! Theres no way any jon jones overhand right would ever land and put anybody down! jon jones would try to get him down or run and tire overeem out! Overeem still has bombs and jon jones doesn't take punches well! It could go either way but I see jon jones being scared of him in the standup fight! Watch for spammed oblique kicks again! Theyd both kick legs till overeem tires himself out and jon jones submits him with elbows to the face.

At this point a stiff breeze would KO Overeem. In 10 years he's gonna be Gary Goodridge mark my words.

I was kind of perplexed at how wobbly Overeem looked against Rothwell even though his pre-fight interview film talked about how he'd been working on keeping balance. Then he goes out and he's slipping and tripping all over his own feet when he wasn't involved in any real exchanges yet. I wondered if Overeem has finally had his bell rung too many times.

On top of that he's took a very lazy stance where his hands were at his waist a la Chuck Liddell. It was as if he didn't think Rothwell was going to come at him with something he couldn't duck, which of course was his big mistake against Bigfoot. And much like Chuck Liddell he paid the price for not correcting himself. You'd think he would have paid attention considering Chuck KO'd him ten years ago.

If Overeem is not going to respect the striking of fighters with body masses capable of putting him in a coma he definitely won't respect the striking of a person coming from 205, especially since he came from 205 himself.

I think Jones has at least a year's worth of legit challenges based on typical activity and up and comers that deserve a crack at the title. The Gus rematch especially needs to happen. That should put any talk of a move to HW to bed for a while. The outcome of the Cormier fight will have a big part in that talk though.

Even then, I don't think Dana and Co. are going to waste time having Jones do little gatekeeper matches against damaged goods like Overeem. If he gets past Cormier and wants to move up they'll hype as Cain getting payback for his training partner or some other BS. Too much money there.

overeem would maul and bully jones. Jones doesn't have the power.

Jones would be winning the round based on being technically a lot better until overeem KO's him.

I really dont think JJ could take out Overeem at HW on the feet. I could see Jones GnPing him out.

First round Jones keeps Reem at a distance with a good solid jab and the side kick to the quad

Second round Reem gasses

Not sure if Jones could put him away though
