Do MMA fighters have glass chins? Or it's just bad defense?

i was watching a boxing match the other day and all they did was put pillows on their hands and hit air most of the time, and all they did was punch, like wtf? don't they have other skills?

Yeah man I watched a Ukranian boxer 3-0 as a professional win a world title and he folded at the hips and swayed to the side that he would be KTFO in K-1 from a shin or knee to the head instantly if he tried that!
They suck balls no skill at all.

Gloves are much smaller in mma and you dont get an 8 count if you go down. In mma you dont get hit by pillows and if you fall to the ground your opponent can still hit you
Sucks that this simple shit actually does need to be said in this thread.

Do MMA fighters have glass chins compared to boxers?
...
I guess is because most of those guys come from grappling background and their chins are untested until they enter the top of MMA. If you have a glass chin in boxing you'll most likely be weeded out relatively early.

What does any of this havr to do with Robbie Lawler - a guy who's been a standup fighter from day 1? You make it sound like Robbie was coming out to the cage in a gi up until the Reebok deal.

The gloves are bigger in boxing... and even in boxing, there are bigger gloves once you get up to a certain weight.

Have you ever seen an injury like this in boxing?

Didn't think so.

It's almost as if MMA fighters don't have gigantic gloves to hide behind or cushion the blow.

Because gloves and your attention is more divided.

Its a lot easier to defend punches when you dont have to worry about knees, kicks, and takedowns.

Try to bob and weave in MMA you will get kneed in the face, kicked in the head or your arse taken down.

@Hi-Tech is clearly a troll account.

Lol at all of you responding to him seriously.

Why even bother trying to explain something obvious to someone that is either trolling or just fucking retarded?

This argument is literally the antithesis of "why do boxers have such weak punches, they can never knock each other out, is it because they're all weaklings?"....

Clearly MMA is a sport where there is a lot more to watch out for.
You don't have giant mitts blocking your face at every second of the fight.
Not to mention the dispersion of force over a concentrated area in MMA.

Becausw yhe level of striking is much lower plus u dont get a standing count

Do MMA fighters have glass chins compared to boxers? Seriously there's just way too many 1st round knockouts and even the guys with supposedly good chins like Lawler go down easy like he did yesterday.

How many times do you see 1st round KOs in boxing on top level? Guys bang each other for 10, 12 rounds and survive until decision. It's very rare to see someone knocked out in the early rounds.

A lot of MMA fighters are also rocked easily like Conor was against volume puncher Nate.

I know that it has a lot to do with bad defending and walking straight into punches like Aldo and Werdum did but still...

Watch a good boxing scrap like Maidana vs Soto Karass if you want to see how durable boxers are compared to MMA fighters. I'm sure if MMA fighters would be hitting each other with those shots they'd be wobbled after 2 rounds and there would be some flash knockout early.

Because of the gloves?

90% of MMA fighters are china chin frauds who would get weeded out by journeymen if they decided to go boxing.

A supposed iron chin warrior Lawler went down in the 1st round. What a joke.

Lawler has been KO 2 times.... and has been to very hardcore wars against very good fighters.
Don't be salty.
If you like box better than MMA is fine.

lol what do you think mma fighters are a different species of human with weaker resistance? Boxers and mma fighters are all just the same human beings with the same level of resistance more or less. mma just has tiny gloves and about a hundred different things to worry about instead of just a left hand or right hand like in boxing. Punches, elbows, knees, kicks, threat of takedown, tiny gloves all changes distance and timing and the whole game. Allows for shots to get through and to get through more often when you arent expecting it.

Bob Arum, stop making Sherdog accounts!

sports science showed that difference in power between an MMA glove and a boxing glove is actually quite miniscule. However, it's obviously easier to DEFEND with bigger gloves. Smaller windows to land, and a bigger glove trying to get through.
