Do MMA fighters have glass chins? Or it's just bad defense?

Do MMA fighters have glass chins compared to boxers? Seriously there's just way too many 1st round knockouts and even the guys with supposedly good chins like Lawler go down easy like he did yesterday.

How many times do you see 1st round KOs in boxing on top level? Guys bang each other for 10, 12 rounds and survive until decision. It's very rare to see someone knocked out in the early rounds.

A lot of MMA fighters are also rocked easily like Conor was against volume puncher Nate.

I know that it has a lot to do with bad defending and walking straight into punches like Aldo and Werdum did but still...

I guess is because most of those guys come from grappling background and their chins are untested until they enter the top of MMA. If you have a glass chin in boxing you'll most likely be weeded out relatively early.

Watch a good boxing scrap like Maidana vs Soto Karass if you want to see how durable boxers are compared to MMA fighters. I'm sure if MMA fighters would be hitting each other with those shots they'd be wobbled after 2 rounds and there would be some flash knockout early.

    Another one of these threads.....

Have a 200lb pure blacksplosive man punch you in the face and tell me about bad defence or glass chins.

You can't compare boxing and MMA. You just can't.

And I used to be the biggest boxing fan in town.

I made a similar thread dealing with technique in MMA and whether it is legit by its own standards and terms.

Boxers probably get weeded out, like you said...

Amir Khan would be considered an iron chinned warrior in MMA.

When you knock somebody down in boxing its a 10 count.

In mma there is no 10 count

Watch Overeem's defense in K1 and then watch his defense in mma. The gloves are the difference.

In regard to the Lawler fight, How many guys at 170 would take this punch clean like this and not go out?

    Maybe Condit.

He survived 10 rounds of Maidana hitting him with absolute bombs. There are maybe like 3 MMA fighters around his weight that wouldn't get knocked out cold if hit by those shots by Maidana.

Fast twitch fibers did it. Black people have an advantage over others.

That's kickboxing. Very few elite boxers rely on blocking punches with gloves. Most use distance and range to defend, that's why shoulder roll with lead hand down is the best boxing defense.

Yes, and boxers only need to defend against punches.

Because there aren't 200lb explosive black people in boxing right? Eastern European cruiserweights and light heavyweights have no problem with them.

Gloves are much smaller in mma and you dont get an 8 count if you go down. In mma you dont get hit by pillows and if you fall to the ground your opponent can still hit you
