Like a 9 or a 10 out or 10?

I think, there are flaws in some films but yet, I think the positives exceed the negatives by far so I give it a 9 (example: Winter soldier)

Based on enjoyment

I love phantom menace and revenge of the sith and they both have major flaws. But the great parts are so awesome they outweigh the bad parts.

So yes. I mean you could pick apart any movie if you try hard enough, which many YouTubers do nowadays and think they're smart because of it.

I think Memento is a much more tighter film than Inception, that’s why I rank it higher even though the latter is more entertaining.

Same applies to Zodiac and Se7en, the directing and story is way better in Zodiac

Or Reservoir Dogs over Django, the more focused a film is; less flawed

Is this your new gimmick? One word followed by the slash?

Because I love it!!!!!

Depends on how you define 9 and 10.

For me, a 9 is a must watch. A candidate for one of the greatest movies of all time, Meanwhile a 10 is one of the greatest movies of all time.

I have a hard time pulling the trigger on giving many movies a 10. I have some but most of my favorite movies I place in the 8-9 range.

same, would give a 10 to less than 10 movies tbh

The boobs need to be perfect.
Great Boobs give +2/10 instantly

Take the Hostel for example, shitty movie,
but that ''on top'' scene with the great tits made this movie a 6/10

10s are very rare for me.

No, it has to have one aspect of it perfectly executed. Like Fury Road - meh script, but the cinematography and practical effects are exemplary good.

No. There are minor works of art that are "perfect" in the sense that they are flawless, and masterpieces that are flawed.

War and Peace by Tolstoy has got weak sections in the second book, but it is one of the greatest novels of all time.

Breakfast at Tiffany's is nearly perfect, but it is not in the same league as W&P, because the scope is so much smaller.

It's the same with films: Fight Club has more flaws than Iron Man, but it is a far greater film.

nothing man touches is perfect or nowhere close to perfect. It's easy to nitpick if that's what you are trying to do but the stronger the good stuff, the more people overlook the rest. Just like music, I've heard things like "that song is distorted" never even occurred to me, I was too busy enjoying it.

I'd say no, take Blair Witch as an example loved & hated but I don't think those who would say it's a masterpiece would say it's perfect.

Well, the word "masterpiece" just comes from the olden apprenticeship days where you'd be studying under a master before finishing your studies by presenting your final work - your masterpiece - to your master.

So a movie masterpiece in today's context would probably be some kind of culmination of director's passions, techniques and so on. But then stuff like "Avatar" would qualify as a masterpiece, since it combines all of James Cameron's interests and tropes into one thing, including being a product that makes the most money, but this would probably trigger a lot of people, calling "Avatar" a masterpiece.

Still, this answers your question - no, masterpiece doesn't necessarily need to be perfect. As in flawless from every aspect. It can have different flaws, but excel at one thing it set out to execute flawlessly.

This^.

Of course it does. Only fanboys think otherwise. I love burgers, but I'll never pretend it's fine cuisine.
