DJ to DC about fighting TJ: If I got the same paycheck you did....then it's a whole different story

The UFC have treated DJ with contempt from day one, he's right to stand his ground, why should he make them more money by taking this fight if he's not gonna get his fair share?

People need to stop acting like entitled children and applaud DJ for taking a stand, and I say that as a guy who thinks outside of Conor vs Khabib it the best fight in MMA.

DJ knows he's not gonna get the same kinda money DC got, he's a realist, but if he has any chance of getting the kinda money that will set him up for life then he has to play the game like he is.

Did you read what you even wrote? "Fair share" He's not a draw, meaning asking for 7 figures is not even close to a fair share because UFC is not going to make a lot of money off of the fight lol. He's not a realist, he's either delusional or he knows this and he's using it as a tactic to avoid a fight he doesn't want to take.

MM is annoying..... wish that shit division would disappear

Then don't blame him when he doesn't take unnecessary risks for so few viewers. The bottom line is, if the fanbase wanted this fight as much as they critiqued the man, then the UFC would pay up.
ufc shouldn't pay him a fuckload of money to fight dillashaw, as the guy quoted you said, he just can't draw for shit. imagine if he had the desire to be the greatest? he definitely has a chance against dillashaw, but a shame he doesn't have the competitive drive to do it

Most people don't care about DJ's division, and if DJ doesn't move up and fight better competition they won't care about him either. His record number of defenses is a hollow number because there isn't the same level of.. anything.. at that statistical dead-end.

It's not that they have no idea how to promote it, they just don't bother since most MMA fans don't care about it.

Actually they have no idea how to promote any division, it's just worse in this case because these extremely small divisions need more promotion than others. The UFC promotion team is honestly terrible.

Whatever man I’m tired of this stuff.

He can do what he wants and accept the consequences.

Why would the UFC work even harder to promote a division that doesn't deliver?
and please don't act like Flyweight would be anything close to a top earner if it had the marketing team's focus.

in what world does MM think he would get the same paycheck as fucking DC?

He has more title defenses and a better fight record..not to mention several ufc records..dominate champion

U just sound like a manlet hating sack of salt

Flyweight has had some exciting fights and finishes just like every other division, but the fact is that the UFC has never bothered to promote it so we will never know how it would have done. It wouldn't have been huge numbers, but no divisions do huge numbers anymore. Hell the division right above DJ's sells like shit too, but no one complains about that one.

that's not how it works buddy

maybe, but if that's the case they didn't do johnson any worse than any other fighter. In fact they did him better. They have him a ton of exposure on free cards, made a reality show surrounding his division, and once they gave him a remotely interesting opponent he balked.

promotions can only do so much

That's not how it works. You might want to learn a thing or two before you continue to make comments and sound so clueless.

The division above Flyweight is currently carrying 227.

So you've seen the future and see how well that card is going to do? Because we are talking numbers here right and historically TJ has sold just as bad as MM and worse in some cases.

I wouldn't say telling a champion that they're going to close his division if he doesn't let them strongarm him into submission is treating him better. Free cards promote every division, as do the reality shows they do for every division. The UFC is terrible as a promotion these days and they're clearly riding off what the Ferttitas built, you can see that in the miserable PPV sales in the past few years.

I know all that but I'm saying that DJ should get the seven figure pay day based on his accolades alone which is the fact that he has completely dominated his division and has the record title defenses. Pay him the million he is asking for and make the damn fucking fight that the fans want to see. It's obviously money that he wants why not fulfill it given what he has achieved if anything that million can be an investment because it will bring more attention on the Flyweight division which is burning money and if TJ becomes champion he also brings in more viewers and PPV numbers the next he fights since he will be a two weight world champion.

So you're saying he's entitled to it even though what he brings to the company doesn't warrant that level of pay.

If DJ brings so many eyeballs to the fights then he should finish out his UFC contract start his own fight promotion and really rake it in.

You also seem to forget that DJ gets a cut of the paper view share. That means if his fights sell he shares in the revenues.

You've got to be a millennial

in what world does MM think he would get the same paycheck as fucking DC?

Probably in a world that valued skill and number of defenses over size and popularity?

Thats not how it works becuase they fail at marketing this... And would rather have a known cheater come back from wwe and cut some bullshit promo jumping the line to a title shot.. They fund that but not recognizing one of the sports best fighters period..hed be easy to market if theyd wanted to he has tons of highlight material not to mention his video game following and his over all personalty ...so no it doesnt work like that when u purposely dont try it
