I was looking forward for this fight and i badly wanted Tumenov to win in order to see him climbing the WW division rank once again.

The guy is still young (24) and he is now 5-2 in the UFC. This mean that he still has plenty of time to get better and to get closer to the top again, but what i wonder is what went wrong yesterday in Rotterdam?

How is possible that he had NO ANSWER to Nelson grappling and ground's skills and conseguentely he ended up mounted twice and eventually he got finished from his back?
Tumenov and his team must have expected Nelson's game plan so why was Tumenov so unprepared on the ground???

I think he should go train in some serious gym in America like at ATT for example bcs his training footage on youtube always gave me some bad feelings: a lot of boxing but basically 0 grappling/wrestling

He seemed befuddled by Gunnar's style from the start of the fight. It didn't look like he prepared for Gunnar's specific style at all. I could be wrong dafuq do I know about his camp.

On the ground, Gunnar will make anybody not named Demian Maia look terrible.

I don't think you're wrong. He was stymied from the get go and Gunni never gave him a chance to get set and get going. Tumenov thought he had his chance in the 2nd, but as soon as he tried to turn up de riddim, Gunni just slapped him back into rd 1 w/ the takedown so he could have a second shot at that finish.

Gunnar is an elite grappler, no shame in getting tapped by him.

Tumenov needs an elite camp. Like Krylov. Lots of potential but glaring holes in his game. ATT would probably suit him well.

Sounds like you just overestimated his ground game

I'm not sure about this.. I remember he fucking destroyed Zak Cummins, but come on besides Maia he never faced somebody with good grappling skills.
I'd like to see him against some veteran like Alves/Brown/Ellenberger/Gastelum. I doubt they would get mounted after 10 seconds on the ground like it happened to Tumenov

I didn't expect Tumenov to be able to have very success on the ground, but at least to have some answers.
Well, it looked like gym newbie against black belt.

I said before the fight I didnt understand how Gunnar could possibly be an underdog in this fight and got flamed for it, apparently I was just biased because Im a Conor fan

forgive me for being smug lol

This. He was clearly caught off guard by his speed as well, just like Thatch.

Besides, a lot of sherdoggers were saying Tumenov was going to KTFO Gunnar. I was rooting for that to happen.

And you're wrong. Gunni is that good. Ever heard of Jeff Monson? Legit Black Belt and HW MMA fighter? Nelson tapped him. Monson fought Fedor and Tim Sylvia for the title, he is a monster. Nelson is that good.

Well I for one is more IMPRESSED by Gunnar than anything else. He looked fantastic, instead of being quite passive and throwing counter shots lacking the power to KO someone, he was the agressor often and came forward many times thowing combos and stuff. That allowed him to put his hands on Tumevov rather easily. Tumenov still has work to do and he is still very young. Gotta remember that he was controlled by fucking Ildemar Alcantara less than 3 years ago.

and he got handled, just goes to show what "a lot of sherdoggers" actually know lol

The Ildemar Alcantara fight showed the grappling holes in his game since that fight he faced 5 strikers until he met Gunnar.

You're right on. Gunnar is one of the quickest fighters in the division, both foot and hand speed. Because of how he holds his hands it is difficult to see his punches coming at you, one of the benefits of Karate. And yes, Tumenov got out grappled by Alcantara, so he was in deep shit from the word go against Nelson.

No sincerely i never heard about Jeff Monson, but i believe u.

no shame in getting handled on the ground by gunnar, just cause maia beat him there doesn't take away from the fact that gunnar is probably a top 3 grappler at WW.
