DING DONG THE REEBOK'S DEAD!

It looked better than the flat colored communist school uniform shorts they have now. With cringy flag pandering for color, at best.

And what's wrong with Condom Depot? You used to have a wide verity of product offers. Now it's just Conor's piss, video games and energy drinks. Besides, the entire cage looks like a Nascar vehicle - but shorts have to be bland?

By the way, Reebok wasn't to blame for the Reebok deal. They're good sponsors for hockey players and other sports in general. How UFC handled their side of the deal is what sucked and it's a UFC problem, so nothing will change with a new sponsor.
Rebook sponsors hockey players bc people will actually buy rebook hockey gear. Nobody is buying rebook MMA gloves or their favorite fighters fight kit, so it would never make sense from reeboks perspective to sponsor athletes in a sport that they don't produce goods for.

Reebok has wanted out since the major backlash, I believe due to Stitch's firing when he phoned Dana the UFC and asked for some of the money since he can no longer wear indie brands.

Reebok released an official statement saying that Reebok was not responsible for the UFC's decision.

It's not been a pleasant partnership. No one who signs with the UFC, is happy, nor wants to extend.

Fox wanted out, they ended up choosing over WWE over UFC. Reebok wants no part of this either.

Dana will eventually have to stop being a micromanaging control freak, and hire actual capable businessmen to run the organization.
This, from @Cooliox is about the most accurate and plausible summation of the situation that I've read so far.

Hopefully UFC inks a deal with Nike or somebody, and works something out where fighters actually get paid something significant. Reebok fight kits also looked like shit.

The UFC doesn't give a fuck about negotiating fair pay for their fighters. They're about securing maximum pay for the UFC. The fighters will be left making pennies on the dollar from whatever company the UFC signs with. Mike, Under Armour, Venum. Which one doesn't belong with the rest? Yeah, that's the one the UFC is probably signing with.

Am I the only one who doesn't miss the embarrassing "Condom Depot" sponsors and stuff on fighters clothing? Boxing and all other sports don't allow sponsors on shorts like UFC used to.
Boxing allows sponsors on their trunks some just choose not to do it. For a time there was a trend of boxers painting ads on their backs. Bernard Hopkins popularized it in his bout with Trinidad.

I hope reebok finally comes to an end, never liked the reebok trunk and all other crap of reebok

I remember a kickboxing fight, I believe it was in Glory but not 100% where Errol Zimmerman had a porn site as a sponsor. Was hilarious

I really fucking detest the fighter kit shit. Let fighters wear their own shorts and have their own sponsors like back in the old days.

Not sure why they picked Reebok in the first place, haven't been relevant since 1990 and the Pump.

Has UFC ever been relevant? “Picked” they can’t just pick whatever they want. Can only pick stuff as relevant as you

UFC & Reebok probably thought they would get a cult like following buying ugly 60$ shirts like in CrossFit.
Only to discover MMA fans weren't as brainwashed as CF'ers

I bought one pair of Reeboks in my life. They wore out in a couple of months, and I've never bought anything but Nikes for athletic use since.

No new deal should be signed.

The real injustice in UFC compensation is not fighter pay. It's restricting sponsors. In tennis, players get 14% of revenue but can have their own sponsors.

UFC defended the Reebok deal by saying you can't have your own sponsors in the NBA, but then calls fighters independent contractors and they only get 18% of revenue. The UFC is having its cake and eating it too.

Fighters should be allowed to have their own sponsors like in other individual sports and keep letting the market dictate their contracts, which is going to give them a lot less % of the revenue compared to team sports.

Tennis sponsors aren't really like the UFC sponsors though. They get sponsored to wear a brand shirt and have a small logo on them. It's not the giant mish mash of different adverts like it used to be in the UFC.

Anyway, in terms of the Reebok type deal, it depends on the level of fighter. It's worse for guys at the top of the card, but probably better for fighters on the prelims.

Jacaré 'Ronaldo' Souza.
Giblert Melendez.

Reebok quality control non-fucking-existent.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

It was atrocious. How on earth those mistakes made it passed anything. They really made themselves look bad and dropped the ball and showed they are not professional. Reebok is an embarrassment.

[slightly long detailed rant about transferring data electronically between systems..]

Absolutely it was terrible. I mean...they'll have been sent (I'd guess) either a spreadsheet with the full names of fighters and their fight nicknames on it and they STILL fucked it up. Either a really simply spreadsheet or a Word document, or maybe even a simple text file. This is called 'Data Migration' if we're talking I.T. stuff : taking the raw data from your legacy system and importing it electronically to the new system. I've done some really complex stuff myself, relational databases, huge amounts of data, gigabytes and gigabytes of different formats...... anyway..... all Reebok had to do was take an XLS or DOC or TXT file or XML file from UFC and they fucked it up.
Even if it was just a (really inefficient process!) printed list, and it was my job as the Reebok guy/girl to type the printed names again to the Reebok system or whatever ready so the shirts and shorts can get printed, I'd make 100% sure I typed every single name 100% accurately including non-English characters like é ñ õ ç correct. (all characters exist in standard ASCII tables, and have a unique ASCII code). It's just inexcusable and showed that they really didn't care at all.

- And whoever thought that Souza's NICKNAME was 'Ronaldo' I am going to guess was a soccer fan and knew of the famous Brazilian soccer player who's name is Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima but better known simply as 'Ronaldo' globally (or it was maybe Cristiano Ronaldo the Portuguese famous player) and he probably just goofed and decided that Souza's actual first name must have been his nickname cos....maybe he had great feet or something???? It's just AMATEURISH beyond belief that a huge global company like Reebok failed to get really simple things right. What else did they screw up behind the scenes that we never even saw or heard about?? Probably a LOT is my guess.
